Can breast hyperplasia cause nipple pain?

Although we often hear about the disease of breast hyperplasia, many people do not know enough about this disease. In fact, the incidence of breast hyperplasia is very high. Many women suffer from this disease. There are many causes of this disease. In addition to endocrine disorders, some women will develop breast hyperplasia due to mental factors. Breast hyperplasia will cause pain, so will it cause nipple pain?

First, will breast hyperplasia cause nipple pain?

Breast pain is the most common problem in women, but it causes a lot of confusion for patients and doctors because the symptoms are non-specific and the possibilities are too many. Although this type of pain is related to cyclical endocrine changes and is mostly physiological, people's fear of breast pain often makes them upset and affects their daily life and work.

Nowadays, many women easily think that they have breast hyperplasia when they feel breast pain or lumps. It is a common understanding among many women that breast hyperplasia is accompanied by pain. So how does this pain occur?

Typical pain from breast hyperplasia starts a week before menstruation, then gradually worsens day by day, and slowly eases once menstruation comes. Before the next menstrual period, breast pain will reappear. The pain may also radiate to the affected armpit, chest, flank, shoulder or back. Some people may experience nipple pain or itching. The pain may fluctuate with mood changes. This pain related to the menstrual cycle and emotional changes is the main feature of the clinical manifestations of hyperplasia of the breast. The cyclical changes in pain are related to the cyclical changes in female estrogen and progesterone. The mechanism of breast pain is due to increased estrogen, proliferation of breast tissue and mammary duct system, and water and sodium retention in the tissue, which causes local breast pain.

Second, what to do if breast hyperplasia and nipple pain

Since there is no clear understanding of the mechanism and cause of breast hyperplasia, the current treatment is basically symptomatic. Some patients may experience spontaneous remission several months to 1 to 2 years after onset and usually do not require treatment. There are many types of breast hyperplasia. Physiological breast hyperplasia, such as simple breast hyperplasia, does not require special treatment and will resolve on its own. Breast hyperplasia caused by mental, emotional and human factors can also subside or ease through self-adjustment (such as timely diagnosis and treatment of other organ diseases related to breast diseases, regulating emotions, relieving mental stress, changing unhealthy eating habits, quitting smoking and drinking, etc.).

Pathological breast hyperplasia requires active treatment, especially the cystic hyperplasia type, which should not be taken lightly due to the possibility of cancer. Most of the commonly used medicines in clinical practice are Chinese patent medicines, which have the effects of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, soothing the liver and regulating qi, softening and dispersing nodules, and regulating qi and blood. In addition, there is hormone therapy. Some people use androgens to treat this disease, but this treatment may aggravate the imbalance of hormones in the human body and is not suitable for routine use. It should only be considered when the symptoms are severe and affect normal work and life.

Treatment under the guidance of a doctor: Western medicine includes 5% potassium iodide. If the pain is severe, you can try methyltestosterone or tamoxifen, which should be taken orally within one week before menstruation to avoid further disrupting the delicate balance of hormones in the human body. You can also choose Chinese patent medicine or prescriptions for treatment under the guidance of TCM syndrome differentiation.

The occurrence of breast hyperplasia is closely related to personal hygiene, environment, and diet. Therefore, female friends must pay more attention to their living habits in daily life, so as to minimize the incidence of breast hyperplasia. At the same time, they should also pay attention to breast health. Once any discomfort occurs, it is recommended to check and treat as soon as possible.

Third, how to prevent nipple itching

1. Suspected allergic factors should be eliminated, and foreign proteins such as fish and shrimp, and irritating foods such as alcohol and chili peppers should not be eaten; avoid severe scratching and hot water washing, and keep the area clean; do not wear bras made of chemical fiber fabrics, and apply corticosteroid ointment under the guidance of a doctor.

2. Excessive cleanliness will affect the normal physiological needs of the skin, just like soil without fertilizer. Proper hygiene and cleaning will only do the job. The damage to the oil layer on the surface of the skin can also be one of the causes of skin itching. You need to change the cleaning methods and ways. As long as the skin is not too greasy, you will be comfortable.

3. If your stomach function is good, please eat more slightly acidic fruits to help control excessive fat overflow.

4. Secondly, use bath soap that suits your skin type to clean your skin. Do not use shower gel, because shower gel is not suitable for all skin types.

5. If you feel burning, itching, or dull pain in the areola, or even pus or lumps, you should be alert to the possibility of eczematous breast cancer. You should go to the hospital as soon as possible to have a detailed examination by the obstetrics and gynecology department.
