What to do if you have chills and joint pain during confinement

It is very easy for female friends to have various problems during the confinement period. The main reason is that women’s physical strength is overdrawn during the childbirth process, which leads to a decrease in immunity. If they do not take good care of themselves, they will easily get sick. Many mothers experience chills and joint pain during the confinement period. This is mainly because of the lack of protective measures, which causes pain in the joints due to cold. So what should you do if you feel cold and joint pain during confinement? What should I do if I have chills and joint pain after childbirth? I believe that many women have this symptom after childbirth. This is mainly because women did not pay enough attention during the confinement period, which led to sequelae. So, how to treat postpartum chills and joint pain?

What to do if you have colds and joint pain after childbirth

1. Neck pain

Cause: Due to bending down for a long time to take care of the baby.

Acupoint: Fengchi point, which is equivalent to the depression at the corners of the hairline on both sides of the head, one on each side.

Fengfu point is equivalent to the midpoint of the line connecting the two Fengchi points.

Method: Use your two middle fingers to press and rub the Fengchi points on both sides at the same time; use your middle finger to press and rub the Fengfu point.

Stop when you feel soreness and swelling.

Note: Normally, you can sit firmly on a chair, keep your upper body still, and move your head and neck gently and slowly 360 degrees. Avoid looking down for long periods of time. Avoid leaning on the edge of the bed or the armrests of the sofa. The pillow should be low and soft. Avoid wind and cold on your neck.

2. Shoulder pain

Causes: fatigue from holding the baby; catching a cold while breastfeeding.

Acupoint: The painful area around the shoulder joint is called Ashi point.

Method: Use your fingers to rub the painful points or your palms to rub the painful area until you feel local soreness or warmth.

Note: You can use a hot towel or a cloth-wrapped hot water bottle for local heat compress treatment, but the temperature should not be too high to avoid scalding the skin. You can also do shoulder shaking exercises appropriately.

3. Hand pain

Causes: Excessive activity and fatigue from holding a child; catching cold, especially coming into contact with cold water immediately after work.

Acupoint: Ashi point (pain point) is the acupoint.

Method: After taking a hot water bath, use finger kneading method for 1 to 3 minutes.

Note: You can exercise your fingers and wrists appropriately at ordinary times.

4. Arm pain

Cause: It is caused by the pressure on the elbow when holding the baby for feeding or sleeping.

Acupoint: Quchi point. It is equivalent to the midpoint of the upper part of the elbow joint when the elbow is bent at 90 degrees.

Method: Use the thumb of your other hand to rub the Quchi point. If the pain is over a large area, you can rub the area with your palms for 3 to 5 minutes.

Note: Do not overwork yourself and keep warm. It can be combined with elbow abduction and external rotation exercises.

5. Back and waist pain

Causes: The force of holding a baby; bending over and straining, such as bathing or changing diapers for the baby; catching cold are also important inducing factors.

Acupoints: The back and waist area is relatively large, so you can use the entire back and waist or the Ashi points.

Methods: The patient was placed in prone position. Ask your family to use their palms to rub the spine from top to bottom until the skin is warm. Use your two thumbs to rub the depression at the midpoint of the shoulder blade (equivalent to the Tianzong point) until you feel soreness and swelling; or use your palms to rub until the area becomes warm. Place the palms of your hands on the psoas muscles on both sides, rub the muscles until you feel a slight warmth. You can also do this method yourself. When doing it, you can apply a little powder or oil on the skin, but don't scratch the skin.

Note: You can do chest expansion exercises to relieve back pain; you can do bending and shaking waist exercises to relieve waist pain. Use a hard bed when sleeping and keep your waist warm. Appropriate and moderate exercise and exercise.
