Brown discharge during menstruation

Brown discharge during menstruation

Every woman has her menstrual period, and many women feel uncomfortable during those few days of each month, which makes them very upset and they wish they could turn into men. What is even more distressing is that a small number of women have a small amount of menstrual flow and continuous bleeding, a very long menstrual cycle, and they also secrete dark brown substances. Is this normal?

Is it normal to have brown discharge during menstruation?

Brown discharge after menstruation is usually the result of incomplete menstruation. If this is the case, women don't need to be too worried. Generally, they can persist in paying attention to hygiene and it will recover after a period of time. Generally, if there is a small amount of brown discharge after menstruation and the menstrual period is not completely over, it is mostly menstrual disorders caused by drug effects, uterine varices, gynecological inflammation, or endocrine imbalance caused by the natural environment or nervous factors.

If there is brown discharge after menstruation and it is intermittent. This can be considered as luteal insufficiency. Luteal insufficiency means that the progesterone is insufficient to metabolize estrogen and cannot support the adequate growth and development of the uterine wall during the metabolic period. Secondly, there are also problems such as luteal insufficiency, endometrial inflammation, cysts, etc. In addition, black blood after menstruation may be caused by less bleeding at this time, poor menstrual discharge, and long deposition time in the uterine cavity. It is also necessary to consider whether it is caused by cervical erosion.

It is recommended that if you find the above conditions, you should go to the hospital for examination in time and then receive symptomatic treatment. A woman's normal menstrual cycle is 28-30 days, with each menstruation lasting 3-7 days. If menstruation continues for more than 7 days, or there is brown discharge, it is considered to be a prolonged menstrual period, which is an abnormal manifestation. If the menstrual period is long and accompanied by heavy menstrual flow, and lasts for more than half a month, it may be menorrhagia, and you should seek medical treatment as soon as possible. Menstruation is caused by fluctuations in estrogen levels. When estrogen levels rise, the endometrium proliferates; when levels drop, the uterine wall sheds and menstruation begins. If the estrogen level does not rise enough and the uterine wall is only partially repaired, your period will be irregular and you will always have brown discharge.

Causes of irregular menstruation

1. Irregular work and rest schedule. With the rapid development of social economy, many women stay up late for a long time or even reverse their day and night due to the influence of daily life or work. This kind of bad work and rest habits can easily cause endocrine disorders and cause irregular menstruation.

2. Excessive weight loss. In pursuit of beauty, many women lose weight excessively or exercise too much, which results in the body not absorbing enough protein and fat, thus affecting the normal production of estrogen in the body, resulting in oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea.

3. Mentality factors. If women are in depression, anxiety or great mental stress for a long time, the hypothalamus-pituitary function of the body will be damaged, which will make the uterus and ovaries unable to secrete androgens and ovulate normally, which can easily lead to irregular menstruation.

4. Artificial abortion. Repeated abortions can easily cause women's uterine wall to become soft, uterine damage cannot be repaired, and even lead to irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, and infertility. Therefore, women should take good care of themselves and avoid abortions, otherwise the harm will be very great.

5. Uterine fibroids. Generally, women with uterine fibroids usually experience irregular menstruation, which is manifested by heavy menstrual flow, longer menstrual period, etc., and the more serious condition of uterine fibroids will affect the occurrence of symptoms.

6. Influence of contraceptive ring. The contraceptive ring is a foreign body outside the body, which will irritate the female uterine wall and cause irregular menstruation, amenorrhea and other phenomena.
