What is vulvar squamous hyperplasia?

What is vulvar squamous hyperplasia?

The vulva is the part of the female genitals that can be observed with the naked eye. The vulva is the first barrier to genital health, preventing bacteria and other harmful objects from entering the body and bringing disease risks. However, the vulva is also a part of the body where women are more prone to disease. For example, vulvar squamous hyperplasia is a common disease. Let’s take a look at the explanation of what vulvar squamous hyperplasia is.

Squamous cell hyperplasia is a vulvar disease with vulvar pruritus as the main symptom but unknown etiology, formerly known as proliferative dystrophy. In addition, any unexplained vulvar itching can also lead to squamous epithelial cell hyperplasia after long-term scratching and friction, which is clinically known as chronic simple lichen planus or neuritis.

Diagnosis of vulvar squamous hyperplasia:

1. Vitiligo: It is a disease caused by the destruction of melanocytes. It has no subjective symptoms and can occur at any age, but is more common during adolescence.

2. Albinism: It is a hereditary disease caused by the presence of only large, grayish-white immature melanocytes in the basal layer of the epidermis, which cannot produce melanin. There are no subjective symptoms, and similar lesions can often be found in other parts of the body.

3. Specific vulvitis: secretions from Candida vulvitis, Trichomonas vulvitis, diabetic vulvitis, etc. and long-term stimulation from diabetes can all lead to excessive keratinization, shedding and whitening of the vulvar epidermis. Both Candida vulvitis and Trichomonas vulvitis are accompanied by increased secretions and itching, and examination of the secretions can reveal pathogens. If the vulvar skin is symmetrically red and thickened, accompanied by severe itching, but there is not much vaginal secretion, it may be diabetic vulvitis. After the primary disease of specific vulvitis is cured, the white area disappears.
