These are the most obvious clinical manifestations of perimenopausal syndrome!

Women usually experience menopause between the ages of 45 and 55, and then there will be a period of perimenopause. Due to changes in hormones in the body, many symptoms will appear during the perimenopause, such as changes in menstruation, physical changes, psychological changes, etc.

1. Changes in menstrual cycle

Changes in the menstrual cycle are the earliest clinical symptoms of perimenopause, mostly characterized by irregular menstrual cycles, prolonged duration, increased menstrual flow, or premature menopause.

2. Vascular dysfunction

Paroxysmal hot flashes are often manifested by heat in the chest first, followed by heat flowing to the neck and face, and then sweating. Each attack lasts for a few seconds or minutes, and may occur several times or even dozens of times a day. It is easily triggered at night or under stress.

3. Psychoneural symptoms

Starting from the premenopause period, women's moods change greatly. They are often easily agitated, irritable, anxious, depressed, and cry for no reason. Memory loss and difficulty concentrating are also common.

4. Cardiovascular symptoms

Due to the low estrogen level after menopause, the blood cholesterol level rises, various lipoproteins increase, and the high-density lipoprotein/low-density lipoprotein ratio decreases, so palpitations, dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, etc. occur.

5. Osteoporosis

Approximately 25% of women suffer from osteoporosis during perimenopause. Patients often have symptoms such as muscle pain, back and leg pain, neck and back pain, and night leg cramps. Some patients have decreased height, joint deformities, hunchbacks, and spinal curvature.

6. Urogenital tract symptoms

The main manifestations are symptoms of urogenital tract atrophy, vulvar itching, vaginal dryness and pain, dyspareunia; uterine prolapse; bladder and rectal prolapse; dysuria, urgency, stress urinary incontinence, and recurrent urinary tract infections.

7. Skin changes

The skin becomes thinner, dry, itchy, and loses elasticity. There are abnormal skin sensations such as numbness, low temperature, tingling, ants, and crawling insects. There is hyperpigmentation, senile pigmentation spots, dry oral and nasal mucosa, and dry conjunctiva.

When the above symptoms occur, you should first undergo appropriate scientific examinations to rule out physical discomfort caused by systemic organic diseases.
