What to do if your menstruation is irregular during lactation? Common treatment methods

Women are prone to menstrual irregularities after giving birth. The most common reason is breastfeeding. Breastfeeding can cause ovarian dysfunction and menstrual irregularities. If necessary, you can adjust your period and take safe and effective contraceptive measures in time.

1. Too little menstrual flow. The reason is that some women have normal menstrual cycles after giving birth, but the menstrual flow is light. The causes of this symptom may include postpartum infection, postpartum hemorrhage, and endometrial adhesions. In addition, if the new mother suffers from anemia, thyroid disorder, endocrine disorder, sudden weather changes, excessive fatigue, cold, or excessive dieting, it may also cause a decrease in menstrual flow. Conditioning method: Breastfeeding mothers are strictly prohibited from using contraceptives. They should use condoms or IUDs to prevent pregnancy. Avoid getting pregnant again and having to have an abortion, which can damage the endometrium; in addition, new mothers with light menstrual flow should not diet excessively to avoid malnutrition.

2. Excessive menstrual flow. This is a symptom that most new mothers will experience when they have their first menstrual period after childbirth. Not only is the menstrual flow heavy, but it also lasts longer. This is mainly due to the continuous low-dose secretion of ovarian estrogen after childbirth, which causes endometrial hyperplasia and shedding. Sometimes excessive fatigue and mental stress can also cause excessive menstrual flow. However, disease factors such as gynecological diseases such as uterine fibroids, uterine polyps, and dysfunctional uterine bleeding can cause excessive menstrual flow. Conditioning method: If the first menstrual period after delivery continues to increase and the bleeding time exceeds 7 days, you should go to the hospital for further examination and treatment. Treatment is with medications taken by mouth or using an intrauterine device that releases medication. Any physical conditioning involving the use of medication should be performed under the guidance of a doctor.

3. Postpartum menstruation recovery time. How long does it take for menstruation to resume after delivery? This is mainly related to the new mother's breastfeeding time and frequency. If the mother does not breastfeed after giving birth, menstruation will generally resume about 2 to 3 months after giving birth. If the new mother is breastfeeding, the time it takes to resume menstruation varies greatly from person to person. Some women recover four months after delivery, some recover after half a year, and some have no menstruation during the breastfeeding period. These are all normal phenomena caused by breastfeeding affecting the endocrine system. There is no need to worry too much.
