What causes endometrial thickness?

Thick endometrium is actually an abnormal phenomenon, and it may also cause polycystic ovary syndrome in women. Anovulation or endocrine functional tumors may also cause endometrial thickening problems.

1 Ovulation. Women in perimenopause, patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, adolescent women, and those with a disorder in a certain link of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis may not ovulate. In this case, the endometrium is affected by estrogen for a long time, and without yun hormone to counteract it, the endometrium cannot be transformed in time and is in a state of hyperplasia for a long time.

2 Endocrine tumors Endocrine functional tumors may not be common, but they can also cause endometrial thickening. The gonadotropin function of the pituitary gland is abnormal, and ovarian granulosa cell tumors are also tumors that continuously secrete estrogen.

3 Obesity. The adrenal glands can secrete a substance called estrenedione, which can be converted into estrone through adipose tissue. The more adipose tissue there is, the stronger the conversion ability is. The higher the level of estrone in the plasma, the more estrogen is secreted, and the greater the possibility of endometrial thickening. Obese women have more adipose tissue, so the level of estrogen is also high, and the thickness of the endometrium is correspondingly greater.

4 Simple endometrial hyperplasia refers to a significant thickening of the endometrium, sometimes in a polyp-like form. The microscopic lesions are diffuse, with both stroma and glandular hyperplasia. The amount of curettage material is large.

5 Complex endometrial hyperplasia. The diseased uterus may be thickened or very thin, or it may be polyp-like. Different from simple hyperplasia, focal hyperplasia consists of glandular components without involving the stroma. Hyperplasia may be related to the distribution of hormone receptors in the tissue, and the amount of curettage material can be more or less.
