The name "leakage" and the chronic disease, combined with pregnancy, which caused continuous bleeding under the fetus, as well as the pathogenesis, treatment and prescriptions of blood stasis in Chong and Ren meridians and uterus were first proposed in "Golden Chamber Synopsis. Pulse and Treatment of Pregnancy Diseases in Women" in the Han Dynasty.

3. In the Jin and Yuan Dynasties, Li Dongyuan discussed in Lanshi Mizang that metrorrhagia is mainly caused by spleen and kidney deficiency, and believed that "kidney water yin deficiency cannot suppress the fire of the cell network, so blood flows and metrorrhagia occurs."

4. Doctors in the Ming Dynasty had a deeper understanding of metrorrhagia.
