What color is normal menstrual blood?

Many female friends only care about whether they have their menstruation on time, but do not observe whether the color and amount of menstrual blood are normal. In fact, generally speaking, the color of menstrual blood is dark red because it contains the shed endometrium of the uterus and some mucus.

Menstruation is also called monthly period, monthly water, monthly letter, and menstrual period, which refers to regular, periodic uterine bleeding. Generally its color is not solidified and is dark red. The blood is mixed with shed endometrial flakes, cervical mucus, and vaginal epithelial cells, and the blood does not coagulate, so there are no blood clots. In daily life, many female friends have black menstrual blood. In fact, this is an abnormal situation and should be diagnosed and treated.

A normal menstrual period can last from 3 to 7 days, with most lasting between 3 and 5 days. The average total amount of bleeding is about 50 ml, but can be as little as 10-20 ml or as much as over 100 ml. The heaviest amount of bleeding occurs on the 2nd or 3rd day of menstruation.

Menstrual blood is dark red, half of which is blood and half is mucus, damaged endometrial tissue and desquamated vaginal epithelium. During menstruation, the fibrinolytic activity of the endometrium increases, so the menstrual blood generally does not coagulate, or occasionally there are small blood clots. Before and during menstruation, the uterus has cervical congestion, the uterus is slightly enlarged and soft, the external cervical opening is loose, the vaginal mucosa is moist and congested, the cervix is slightly colored, and the secretions increase. Generally, there is no discomfort.
