Are hyperthyroidism symptoms contagious?

Are hyperthyroidism symptoms contagious?

Hyperthyroidism is a common disease in daily life. The disease is common in women and other groups, including middle-aged women. The factors that cause hyperthyroidism are related to excessive thyroid hormone metabolism in the body, as well as the digestive tract, respiratory system, and nervous system. If the basal metabolism is abnormal, the stimulatory thyroid hormone metabolism will also be abnormal. In addition, stress, insufficient iodine intake, dietary factors and other factors can also cause symptoms such as hyperthyroidism.

1. Are the symptoms of hyperthyroidism infectious?

Hyperthyroidism is an autoimmune disease caused by abnormal hormone regulation in the body and is not easy to be infected. However, since iodine is required for the production of thyroid hormone, there may be some concentration effect as iodine levels may vary from one area to another. Hyperthyroidism and other thyroid diseases are not easy to be transmitted, but the possibility of genetic inheritance cannot be ruled out. Don't worry too much. Even if it is possible to be inherited genetically, it does not mean that your children will definitely get hyperthyroidism or other thyroid diseases. You can check it out if necessary. It would be more reassuring if there weren't any.

2. Symptoms of hyperthyroidism

1. Protruding eyeballs:

One of the clinical symptoms of hyperthyroidism is exophthalmos, which is not very obvious in the early stages of the disease or when the condition is relatively mild. However, the symptom of exophthalmos can be detected through examination methods. Most of the examinations diagnose it as mild numbness of the extraocular muscles, which can be improved by timely treatment.

2. Conjunctival congestion:

The patient's upper eyelid surrounding tissue has hematoma, edema and other symptoms. If the condition develops seriously, it will further infect the eye. Therefore, if problems such as conjunctival congestion occur, it is necessary to see a doctor immediately. The prerequisite is to eliminate eye diseases and infection factors.

3. The eye area exercise is not harmonious:

Most patients with hyperthyroidism have problems such as inharmonious periorbital exercise, such as asynchronous periorbital posture. When patients experience discomfort in periorbital movement, they should consider diseases such as hyperthyroidism and cooperate closely with doctors for treatment.

4. Corneal disease:

Patients with relatively high thyroid hormone levels may experience enlargement of the facial fissure due to symptom stimulation, resulting in retraction of the upper eyelid, which in turn exposes the cornea. If not properly treated, it may lead to problems such as corneal dryness, which in turn may cause symptoms such as corneal infection. Therefore, when symptoms such as hyperthyroidism are more serious, the chance of blindness is higher.

5. Obstruction of upper eyelid closure:

Most patients with hyperthyroidism have obvious symptoms such as difficulty closing their eyes. When the upper eyelid is retracted, the upper eyelid cannot close. It can cause corneal dryness, corneal inflammation, corneal perforation and other problems, thereby increasing the risk of binocular blindness.

6. Related symptoms:

Most patients with hyperthyroidism have symptoms such as tearing, fear of light, pain around the eyes, and decreased vision. Therefore, if patients experience the above symptoms, they need to seek medical attention immediately.
