The troublesome dysmenorrhea will no longer hurt after soaking your feet with this ingredient!

Many female patients jokingly told me that what women fear most is childbirth, followed by dysmenorrhea. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that pain is caused by obstruction. Dampness, heat or body cold can cause blood stasis and lead to dysmenorrhea. However, clinically, most patients suffer from cold body, for example, cold sweats due to pain, cold hands and feet, etc., so I often use the method of warming the meridians and dispersing cold to treat them.

For example, soaking your feet in mugwort leaves is a good idea. Soak for 15 to 20 minutes every day until you sweat. It is very effective in relieving dysmenorrhea. First, take 30 grams of mugwort, 100 grams of ginger, and 100 milliliters of white wine. Wash the mugwort leaves, cut the ginger into thick slices, put them into a pot, add appropriate amount of water and boil for 30 minutes, remove the residue and take the juice, pour it into a basin, add white wine, fumigate first and then soak your feet. Note that the temperature of the fumigation water should be around 90℃ to prevent burns. When the water temperature drops to around 40℃, immerse your feet in the water up to the ankle joints. When soaking your feet, you can also rub the Yongquan acupoint on the soles of your feet, your toes, and your heels. These areas are reflex areas of the reproductive system. Focusing on stimulating these areas can help warm the uterus, promote blood circulation, quickly dissipate blood stasis, and relieve pain.

In the past, during the Dragon Boat Festival, every household would hang mugwort, also known as wormwood leaves, in front of their doors, because as the weather got warmer, the fragrant mugwort could repel mosquitoes and flies, and also ward off evil spirits. People in cities use it less nowadays, but it is still good for foot soaking. Mugwort can dredge the meridians, relieve cold pain, and speed up metabolism. It is an important gynecological medicine and is often used to treat cold pain in the abdomen, irregular menstruation, and infertility due to cold uterus. People also often use mugwort to bathe pregnant women; when there is pain from bruises and blood stasis, people often use mugwort water to rinse.

Adding ginger and white wine to the folk remedy will make the medicine more powerful. Ginger is a well-known ingredient for warming the meridians and dispersing cold, and white wine also has a good medicinal effect. It can lead the medicine upward and make the medicinal power quickly reach the meridians throughout the body. However, if you feel hot or uncomfortable after using the above recipe, you can omit ginger and white wine and directly use mugwort to soak your feet. The number of soaking times should also be reduced or stopped. People with yin deficiency and blood heat should avoid using it.

In addition to soaking your feet with mugwort, you can also cooperate with diet therapy. Do not eat raw or cold food one week before menstruation, and eat more warm food, such as mugwort, brown sugar and eggs: take 10 grams of mugwort, 2 eggs, and an appropriate amount of brown sugar. Add mugwort leaves to water and boil until it becomes juice. Add boiled and peeled eggs and brown sugar, and cook for another 10 minutes. This recipe can also warm the meridians and relieve pain, and is effective in treating symptoms such as dysmenorrhea and heavy menstrual flow. In addition, eggs and brown sugar are rich in nutrients, so it is also a good blood tonic for women who lose too much blood during menstruation.
