What should I do if I have mastitis pain?

Many people often do not pay attention to some gynecological diseases, but in fact, they can easily induce some complications, especially mastitis. If not treated in time, it will not only cause pain, but may even cause cancer and threaten life.

Mastitis is a common disease in primiparas. At the beginning of the disease, the breasts are swollen and painful, the lumps are tender, the surface is red and swollen, and there is fever. In mild cases, the mother cannot feed the baby normally, while in severe cases, surgical treatment is required. If the condition continues to develop, the symptoms will worsen and the breasts will become throbbing with pain. In severe cases, there is high fever, chills, obvious breast swelling and pain, local skin redness and swelling, nodules and tenderness, and enlarged and tender lymph nodes under the affected side.

The inflammation softens within a few days, forming a breast lump with a sense of fluctuation. The skin redness and fluctuation of the deep abscess are not obvious. The main causes of this disease are blocked milk ducts, milk stasis, or damage to the nipple when the baby is sucking milk. The clinical characteristics of this disease are acute onset, which may be accompanied by fever, chills, redness, swelling, heat and pain in the affected breast, the appearance of lumps, and finally the formation of abscesses.

Breast massage: Use negative pressure suction to drain out the remaining milk, such as using a breast pump or manual suction. Excessive negative pressure suction can easily cause temporary narrowing of the milk ducts, affecting the milk discharge effect. Breast massage uses the effect of squeezing to empty the milk ducts and promote the dissipation of congestion. This method is suitable for patients with blocked milk ducts, milk stasis, or early stages of lobular inflammation. This method is contraindicated if local edema is obvious, accompanied by fever, or an abscess has already formed.

Cold compress therapy: Cold compress can lower local temperature, reduce capillary exudation, slow down the conduction of peripheral nerve impulses, and has the effects of relieving pain, reducing swelling, inhibiting the spread of inflammation, and reducing milk secretion. Abscess formation is faster with hot compress than with cold compress. The incision and drainage rate of cold compress is 40.42%, which is lower than that of hot compress (the incision rate of hot compress is 82.9%). The earlier the cold compress is applied, the better.

Hot compress treatment: Three days after the onset of acute mastitis, local lesions show infiltration and exudation changes. At this time, hot compress can increase local tissue blood flow, promote leukocyte chemotaxis, improve the phagocytic function of leukocytes, promote the absorption, localization and liquefaction of inflammatory exudates, and has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.

Regarding the treatment of mastitis, I hope that female friends can pay attention to this knowledge and pay attention to the occurrence of mastitis. The occurrence of mastitis can be easily discovered as long as we observe carefully in life, so don’t ignore those little symptoms, so as to avoid more serious diseases.
