Methods of maintenance after laparoscopic surgery for uterine fibroids

Women must pay attention to taking care of their bodies. Uterine fibroids are the most common gynecological diseases in our lives, and they are very harmful to women's bodies. However, laparoscopy is generally required to examine and diagnose uterine fibroids, but laparoscopy can also cause certain harm to the body. After the examination, you must also maintain and care for your body in time. Let's learn about the maintenance methods after laparoscopic surgery for uterine fibroids.

Methods of maintenance after laparoscopic surgery for uterine fibroids

1. Wound care: Usually the laparoscopic wound is one centimeter long at the navel and 0.5 centimeters on the lower abdominal side. After the operation, the one centimeter wound is usually sutured simply. At this time, absorbable or non-absorbable sutures may be used. If non-absorbable sutures are used, they should be removed seven days after the operation. If absorbable sutures are used, they do not need to be removed. As for the 0.5 centimeter wound, it can be closed with breathable tape, but sometimes stitches and simple sutures may be used to increase the neatness of wound healing. When caring for these wounds, it is important to keep the wound clean and dry, and wait until the wound is completely healed (about ten days) before showering or getting it wet. The most important thing is that because patients who receive laparoscopic treatment have a very short hospital stay, they must pay attention to whether the wound is red, swollen, hot, or painful every day after returning home to prevent infection and inflammation. However, inflammation of the wound after laparoscopic surgery is quite rare.

2. Vaginal bleeding: During surgery, in order to allow for a clear examination of the ovaries, fallopian tubes and the back of the uterus or to provide sufficient space for surgery, a uterine support device is usually placed in the vagina (not used for unmarried women) to adjust the position of the uterus. Therefore, there will be a small amount of vaginal bleeding after the surgery, which is normal. However, if the vaginal bleeding lasts for more than two weeks, you should consult a doctor to see if there is any abnormality. As for patients who undergo laparoscopic hysterectomy, since the top of the vagina will be sutured after the hysterectomy, brown bleeding within two weeks is still normal. It should be noted that having sex or lifting heavy objects within eight weeks may cause poor wound healing and cause bleeding at the stump, so it should be avoided.

3. Daily life: Maintaining a comfortable life and doing a little exercise will help the body recover. Patients who undergo laparoscopic fallopian tube surgery and laparoscopic ovarian surgery should be able to resume their normal daily routine two weeks after the operation. For those who undergo total hysterectomy, in addition to avoiding horse riding, bicycle riding, and sitting for long periods of time in the early stages of the operation (within two weeks) to prevent pelvic congestion and postoperative discomfort, special attention should be paid to avoid lifting objects weighing more than five kilograms or activities that increase the burden on the abdomen. After eight weeks, the amount of exercise can be gradually increased according to personal strength and constitution. This can reduce future discomfort caused by a temporary reduction in pelvic support.

When there is a problem with the body, we cannot rush to recover. We must master the methods to regulate it. The above is an introduction to the maintenance methods after laparoscopic surgery for uterine fibroids. After understanding it, we know that we must observe vaginal bleeding after laparoscopy and pay attention to maintaining good living habits.
