Is non-lactation mastitis serious?

In recent years, with the popularization of health knowledge during pregnancy and puerperium, the incidence of lactation mastitis has been on a downward trend, while non-lactation mastitis has been on an upward trend. Female friends have also paid some attention to breast health. Mastitis is a very common disease, which is very common in women over 40 years old. This requires women to pay attention to it during their annual physical examinations. However, is non-lactation mastitis serious?

In fact, it is true. Experts point out that women can also suffer from mastitis - plasma cell mastitis - during the non-lactating period. It should be noted that this type of mastitis is more serious than mastitis during lactation. Therefore, women should not think that they can rest assured when they are not breastfeeding.

Beware of mastitis during non-lactation period

Experts point out that the cause of plasma cell mastitis is still unclear, but it is caused by irregular epithelial hyperplasia and secretory dysfunction in the breast. A large amount of lipid-containing secretions accumulate in the mammary ducts under the nipple and areola, leading to duct dilatation, followed by decomposition of the accumulation in the ducts. The chemical products of decomposition constantly stimulate the tissues around the ducts, causing inflammatory infiltration and fibrous tissue hyperplasia.

It should be noted that the pathological characteristics of non-lactation mastitis are complex and varied, so there are many names for it. Women should not be confused by this. If the lesion expands further, an inflammatory mass may form. Sometimes the inflammation attacks acutely and forms an abscess. The pus is often mixed with powdery substances, and powdery substances are also discharged from the nipple and milk pores. This is called "acne-like mastitis." Because there are a large number of eosinophils, plasma cells and lymphocytes infiltrating around the necrotic tissue, especially plasma cells, it is called plasma cell mastitis.

Is non-lactation mastitis serious? I believe everyone should have understood the above article. Special attention should be paid to non-lactation mastitis, as the chance of cancer is very high. Many women die from breast diseases every year. Cervical cancer and breast cancer seriously threaten women's health, so active treatment should be given under the premise of good prevention!
