What is uterine chocolate cyst?

Uterine chocolate cyst is a disease of endometriosis, a reproductive health problem that many female friends will face now. Naturally, special attention needs to be paid to its treatment and prevention in life. Because this disease has not been treated and resolved, it may even affect women's fertility. Therefore, we should now give female friends a detailed introduction to the causes and symptoms of uterine chocolate cyst, as well as scientific solutions.

Chocolate cyst is a "lump" but not a "tumor". It is a lesion of endometriosis. Under normal circumstances, the endometrium grows in the uterine cavity and is affected by female hormones in the body, shed once a month, forming menstruation. If the endometrial fragments shed during menstruation flow back through the fallopian tubes into the pelvic cavity with menstrual blood and implant on the surface of the ovaries or other parts of the pelvic cavity, ectopic cysts will be formed. This ectopic endometrium is also affected by sex hormones and sheds and bleeds repeatedly with the menstrual cycle. If the lesions occur on the ovaries, there will be local bleeding during each menstrual period, which will enlarge the ovaries and form cysts containing old blood. This old blood is brown and sticky like a paste, similar to chocolate, so it is also called "chocolate cyst". The cyst may gradually increase in size and sometimes rupture during or after menstruation, but rarely becomes malignant.

Chocolate cysts can be seen as endometrial-like tissue under hysteroscopy. Because the old blood stasis retained in this cyst is the color of chocolate paste, it is called "chocolate cyst". Although this disease only causes small cysts at the beginning, if treatment is delayed for a long time or medication is not taken, severe abdominal pain will occur before and after each menstruation. Most patients have ectopic endometrial tissue, which, under the influence of ovarian hormones, causes periodic congestion, bleeding, and exfoliation, so it is also called "ovarian endometriosis."

Chocolate cysts in the female uterus are a relatively common female disease, so for the sake of women's reproductive health, we need to know more about these diseases so that we can effectively prevent them. At the same time, women should pay special attention to their reproductive health in their lives and be cautious about any problems.
