In life, due to the particularity of women's body structure, women are likely to suffer from some gynecological diseases. Some women feel very uncomfortable after suffering from these gynecological diseases. For the sake of women's health, we need to understand the treatment process in this area. Some women experience labia itching, so we need to learn about the treatment of labia itching. So how to treat labia itching? Let’s see how the editor answers this question.

Vulvar itching is a very common gynecological symptom. The itching areas are mostly the clitoris, mons pubis, labia majora and minora, and if the area is large, it may spread to the area around the anus. The symptoms may be mild or severe, and severe cases may make the patient restless, affecting work and rest. Repeated scratching of the vulvar skin can cause thickening of the skin, scratches, blood scabs, and lichenification.

There are many causes of vulvar itching, such as the stimulation of physical and chemical factors in daily life, systemic diseases, local vulvar lesions and infections, etc., which may become pathogenic factors, but there is also vulvar itching for which no cause can be found.

(1) Infectious factors: Trichomonas infection or fungal disease is the most common cause of vulvar itching. When suffering from Trichomonas vaginitis or bacterial vaginitis, or cervical erosion, the amount of leucorrhea increases significantly, and the inflammatory secretions irritate the vulvar skin and mucous membranes, causing itching. In addition, pubic lice, pubic scabies and some sexually transmitted diseases can also cause vulvar itching. Pinworm disease is common in young girls, mainly causing itching around the anus, which may spread to the vulva and occur at night.

(2) Local vulvar lesions: Vulvar skin diseases such as vulvar eczema, neurodermatitis, chronic vulvar dystrophy, vulvar tumors, etc. can all be causes of vulvar itching.

(3) Bad hygiene habits: Not paying attention to cleaning the vulva, causing vaginal secretions or menstrual blood to accumulate in the vulva, causing itching. On the contrary, washing the vulva several times a day, or frequently using strong alkaline soaps, or washing the vulva with potassium permanganate water will make the vulva skin too dry and cause itching.

(4) Inappropriate clothing: Wearing synthetic underwear or using menstrual belts made of rubber or plastic will cause poor ventilation of the vulva skin, causing it to be soaked with sweat and itchy.

(5) Allergy: Allergy to systemic or local medications in the vulva causes vulvar itching.

(6) Systemic diseases: Vulvar itching caused by vitamin A and B deficiency, jaundice, anemia, leukemia and other diseases is part of systemic itching. The diabetes in diabetic patients irritates the vulva and is also a common factor causing itching. In addition, obese patients may experience vulvar itching due to excessive secretion of sebaceous glands and sweat glands, which stimulate the vulva.

(7) Irritation from feces and urine: In a very small number of patients, due to urethrovaginal fistula, urinary incontinence, or anal fistula, feces and urine may irritate the vulva for a long time, causing itching.

(8) Psychological factors: Some patients are unable to identify the cause of vulvar itching, which may be due to excessive mental stress.

(9) A small number of patients experience itching due to vulvar congestion before menstruation or during pregnancy, but no abnormalities are found during clinical examination.

The treatment process of labia itching is what the editor introduced above. I hope it can help us all. In addition to understanding this knowledge, we also need to learn about other gynecological diseases.
