What are the folk remedies for pregnant women to treat colds in summer?

Colds are very serious for pregnant women, because they have to take the fetus into consideration when taking medication, so many medicines cannot be taken orally, and treatment is affected. A cold in the summer for pregnant women is the same as any other cold, but attention should be paid to whether the cold is caused by excessive use of air conditioning. The treatment in this regard is very different. So what are the folk remedies for treating colds in pregnant women during the summer? There are many folk remedies for treating colds in pregnant women during the summer. Here are some simple remedies for you.

1. Use 2 or 3 pieces of scallion (must be fresh scallion, not other parts), about the length of your thumb, add 2 or 3 slices of peeled ginger, add water and boil together. Both ingredients should be put into the pot with cold water and boil together. It is best to use a casserole instead of a metal pot. You can boil it down to 2 or 3 times the amount (and boil it again next time you drink it), but I only boil down a small bowl of it each time. After drinking it while it is hot, cover yourself with a blanket and have a sleep immediately. It helps to reduce fever and induce sweating.

2. Boil water with fresh lilies until they are soft. Eat the lilies and drink the lily water instead of your daily drinking water to remove internal heat and prevent colds. Lily water is also very effective for sore throats. This is my favorite because lily has a naturally sweet flavor. The taste of lily water is similar to boiled water, nothing special.

3. Use the root of the cabbage, which is the part that we don’t use and is often cut off when eating cabbage. Wash it, add green onion and boil it in water. Drink it while it is hot. It has the effect of reducing fever and inducing sweating.

4. When you have a cold, you must sleep more. If your body temperature rises, but it feels only slightly higher than normal, you can drink some naturally cooled boiled water, drink more water and go to the toilet more often to eliminate toxins and internal heat in your body in time.

5. Eat light meals, for example, only drink millet porridge and pickles, or only eat vegetables and fruits for one or two days, and no meat. Eating less fish and meat for one or two days will not have any effect on you and your baby. You can also reduce the amount of staple food appropriately. For example, if you usually eat 2 taels of rice in one meal, then you can leave a small spoonful of it uneaten during the meal.

Note:

All medications are prohibited during the first three months of pregnancy because the first three months are the critical period for embryo formation. If a pregnant woman has a mild cold and the symptoms are not particularly severe, non-drug treatments such as massage, physical therapy, etc. can be adopted. And you should drink more boiled water, eat more vegetables and fruits, and keep your bowel movements smooth.

Medication should be used with caution during the second trimester. Drugs that are damaging to the auditory nerve, such as gentamicin, streptomycin, and kanamycin, should be used with caution, and it is best not to use them as much as possible. Generally speaking, taking medication in the late pregnancy will not have much impact on the pregnant woman or the fetus.

The folk remedies for treating summer colds for pregnant women are those introduced in the article. After a cold, the cold virus will appear in the body, and the fetus will also be affected accordingly, and its development will be slow or abnormal. It is recommended to pay attention to the prevention of colds during pregnancy to avoid problems with fetal development caused by your own cold. If you do catch a cold, you should use methods to treat it. It is best not to take Western medicine. Pregnant women’s colds are mostly treated with traditional Chinese medicine, which does no harm or side effects to the fetus.
