Do I need pelvic floor muscle repair after childbirth?

According to statistics, half of Chinese women will have varying degrees of pelvic dysfunction after giving birth. If you do not understand the reasons for the pelvic floor damage after childbirth, and do not perform timely maintenance and repair, which may eventually lead to disease, gynecological diseases will come knocking.

Pelvic floor repair treatment after childbirth

During the delivery process, due to excessive expansion of the pelvic tissue, the elasticity is weakened, and even many fibers may rupture. Therefore, after giving birth, you should persist in doing some exercises that are beneficial to the recovery of the pelvic tissue and help the pelvic tissue repair.

1. Pelvic gymnastics

The specific method is to contract the vagina purposefully. Since it is difficult for beginners to feel the amplitude of vaginal contraction, they can contract the pelvis when urinating. If the urine stream stops when contracting and flows out again when the pressure is released, it means that the appropriate muscle groups are contracted. While contracting the pelvic floor, try to minimize the contraction of other muscles, such as the thigh, back, and waist muscles.

The intensity and duration of the exercise can be gradually increased. At the beginning, contract the urethra, anus and perineum for 5 to 10 seconds each time, then release it. Repeat the above movements at intervals of 5 to 10 seconds, continue for 5 minutes, and do it twice a day. Then gradually increase the amount of exercise.

2. Postpartum exercises

It helps new mothers avoid delivery complications by strengthening the muscles in the pelvis, abdomen, legs and other parts of the body, promoting the repair of pelvic and abdominal organs. There are two parts to postpartum exercise:

Stage 1: 3 days to 3 months after giving birth

Pelvic floor muscle training, abdominal muscle exercises, thigh muscle exercises, chest exercises, etc. It is best done while lying in bed.

The second stage: March to June after giving birth

Carry out body muscle strength recovery training and enhance abdominal and pelvic floor muscle training.
