What causes brown leucorrhea after menstruation?

Leucorrhea is a kind of liquid that flows out of the female lower body. Specifically, leucorrhea can be divided into two types, one is physiological and the other is pathological. If the leucorrhea is pathological, it proves that there is inflammation in the woman's body, and it may be a gynecological disease. In life, some women will see that their leucorrhea will turn into brown after menstruation. What is the reason for this?

Brown leucorrhea after menstruation may be considered as bloody leucorrhea. Generally speaking, some women will experience ovulation bleeding during ovulation, that is, mid-menstrual bleeding, which refers to a small amount of bleeding between two normal menstrual periods, which may be accompanied by varying degrees of lower abdominal pain. If the symptoms are mild, no treatment is needed. If the bleeding is heavy or affects fertility, medication can be used for treatment.

In addition, sometimes due to the placement of an intrauterine contraceptive ring, some blood is mixed in the leucorrhea, which leads to the symptom of brown leucorrhea after menstruation, which should be taken seriously.

Causes of abnormal vaginal discharge:

1. Physiological

In healthy women, the increase in vaginal discharge is directly proportional to the increase in estrogen levels in the body. For example, increased vaginal discharge may occur during ovulation or pregnancy, when the endometrium grows too long, or after the use of estrogen drugs.

2. Pathological

Vaginitis, chronic cervicitis, senile vaginitis, endometritis, uterine effusion or foreign body in the vagina, uterine fibroids, genital herpes, gonorrhea, condyloma acuminatum, uterine prolapse, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, etc.

Abnormal vaginal discharge needs to be checked

The examination is carried out from outside to inside. First, the vulva, urethra, paraurethral glands and Bartholin's glands are inspected visually, and then the vaginal wall and cervix are observed through a vaginal speculum.

(A) Visual examination of the vulva: This helps in the identification of vaginitis. Erythema and small collar fissures around the vulva and anus may be caused by candidiasis, and vulvar edema may be caused by trichomoniasis, Trichomonas vaginitis or cervicitis. The vulva of patients is often contaminated with a large amount of purulent vaginal discharge, while in bacterial vaginosis, only accumulated vaginal discharge is seen at the vaginal opening.

(ii) Appearance of vaginal discharge: Various pathological vaginal discharges have different specific characteristics that can provide diagnostic clues.

1. Physiological leucorrhea: white and uniform color, flocculent, highly effective and accumulated in the sagging part of the vagina.

2. Bacterial vaginal discharge: The leucorrhea is gray, homogeneous, and of low volume. It is often evenly attached to the surface of the vaginal mucosa on the anterior or lateral wall of the vagina. It is easy to wipe off and there is no obvious change in the vaginal mucosa.

3. Trichomonas vaginitis: The leucorrhea is yellow or even yellow-green, obviously purulent, and often foamy.

4. Candidiasis: The leucorrhea is white, highly viscous, and cheesy or tofu-like, attached to the vaginal wall. Sometimes it resembles white thrush-like patches. There may also be very little leucorrhea or it may be similar to normal leucorrhea, but the vaginal wall appears as white spots.

If you want your leucorrhea to return to normal, you must go to the hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible. If you have a gynecological disease, you must find the cause and treat it accordingly. Once the gynecological disease is cured, leucorrhea will return to normal. In addition, women should never excessively clean their genitals in normal times, otherwise it will easily cause a series of problems and be more likely to cause abnormal leucorrhea.
