Why is my genitals particularly itchy?

Vulvar itching is a very common phenomenon in women. Itching in this area is very embarrassing because there is no way to relieve the itching, so it will have a great impact on the patient's life and work. Timely treatment is very important. However, only after we understand the cause of vaginal itching can we treat it accordingly. There are many reasons that cause vaginal itching. Here we will introduce the reasons that cause vaginal itching.

1. Infectious diseases: Trichomonas vaginitis and candidal vaginitis cause excessive vaginal discharge, which can irritate the vulva and cause itching.

2. Local lesions of the vulva: Vulvar skin diseases such as vulvar eczema, neurodermatitis, chronic vulvar malnutrition, vulvar tumors, etc. can cause vulvar itching.

3. Bad hygiene habits: If you do not pay attention to cleaning the vulva, vaginal secretions or menstrual blood will accumulate in the vulva, causing itching. On the contrary, washing the vulva several times a day, or frequently using strong alkaline soaps, or washing the vulva with potassium permanganate water will make the vulva skin too dry and cause itching.

4. Inappropriate clothing: For example, if you like to wear synthetic clothes or use menstrual belts made of rubber or plastic, it will cause poor ventilation of the vulva skin, causing itching due to sweat stains.

5. Stimulation by sensitive substances: Allergy to systemic or local medications on the vulva causes vulvar itching.

6. Menstrual factors: As menstrual blood flows through the vagina, it disturbs the normal acidity and alkalinity of the vagina. Hidden pathogens may induce infection and cause vulvar itching.

7. Congestion of the vulva during pregnancy: Sometimes there is varicose veins, which can cause vulvar itching and discomfort; increased cervical and vaginal secretions during pregnancy are also one of the reasons.

8. Women who sit in the office for a long time and do not move often are very likely to suffer from symptoms of vulva itching. Sitting in a chair for a long time without moving will make the vulva stuffy. Among them, non-breathable underwear does not absorb sweat, which will make the vulva too moist for a long time and can also cause vulva itching.

The above article introduces some causes of genital itching. If it is not caused by pathological reasons, then improving lifestyle habits can play a therapeutic role. Vulvar itching may also be caused by gynecological diseases, such as vaginitis, adnexitis, endometritis, uterine erosion, etc. These gynecological diseases will cause vulvar itching, so you should get examined and treated as soon as possible.
