How do I know if I have ovulated?

How do I know if I have ovulated?

The first thing a woman with infertility asks when she sees a doctor is whether her ovulation is abnormal. Of course, normal ovulation is a necessary condition for women to become pregnant, but most women do not know very well whether they are ovulating. Abnormal ovulation means that you may suffer from infertility, but even if you do not suffer from infertility, you may still have abnormal ovulation. How can I know if I ovulated?

⑴Basal body temperature measurement: This is the most commonly used method nowadays. The disadvantage is that it is quite troublesome. The measurement method is to wake up in the morning every day and do not do any movement. Hold the thermometer under the tongue for 5 to 10 minutes, and then mark the measured values on the basal body temperature chart and connect them into a line. The first day of menstruation is regarded as the beginning of each cycle. If the body temperature suddenly drops and then suddenly rises by 0.3~0.5℃, it means ovulation has occurred (the basal body temperature is lowest 24 hours before ovulation). After ovulation, the basal body temperature will continue to rise for 12~16 days. If your body temperature does not change from being low in the first half of a menstrual cycle to being high in the second half, it means that you have not ovulated. Illness, sexual activity, and emotional excitement will cause significant fluctuations in basal body temperature, but they will not last long and will not result in the typical two-plateau-like changes like ovulation.

⑵ Changes in leucorrhea: Leucorrhea is composed of cervical mucus, vaginal exfoliated cells, secretions, bacteria and other substances. Normal women do not have much leucorrhea, which can lubricate the vagina. It is usually white in color. In the middle of the menstrual period, if the amount of leucorrhea increases, becomes as transparent as egg white and can be stretched into filaments, it means that ovulation is about to occur. But if you have vaginitis, this method is not very reliable.

⑶Test paper method: There are test strips for ovulation on the market, which you can buy and do the test yourself. Place the test strip in your urine. If two red lines appear in the "small window" of the test strip, it means ovulation is about to occur. This method requires multiple consecutive tests.

The simplest and most accurate way to determine whether ovulation has occurred is to go to the hospital for an ultrasound, which can determine the actual situation inside the ovaries. It is recommended that women who want to have children after marriage should go to the hospital for B-ultrasound during the pregnancy preparation period, so that they can determine whether they are ovulating normally, and they can also determine the ovulation day based on their menstrual conditions.
