What does breast examination level 3 mean?

With the increasing incidence of breast diseases such as breast hyperplasia and breast cancer, people are paying more and more attention to breast health, and more and more female friends go to hospitals for breast examinations. When they get the breast B-ultrasound, molybdenum target and other imaging examination reports sent by the doctor, they are often confused by the various professional terms filled in them. What is grade three breast cancer? Here is how to read breast examination reports.

Breast cancer grade 3, or BI-RADS grade 3, may be a benign disease. It is recommended to follow up in the short term (within one year, generally 3 to 6 months). The physician needs to confirm the good distinction based on short-term follow-up observations. If it remains stable for 2 to 3 years, it can be changed to BI-RADS grade 2. The malignant transformation rate of BI-RADS grade 3 lesions is generally not high.

After having a breast imaging examination (B-ultrasound, molybdenum target, MRI, etc.) in a regular hospital and obtaining the examination report, you will notice that you can usually see a string of English letters on the examination report: BI-RADS grade classification. It will be followed by numerical symbols such as I, II, III, IV, V, etc. "What does this BI-RADS classification mean? Is it serious?" Many patients and friends become anxious when they see this. In fact, "BI-RADS" is the abbreviation of the British Radiologist's Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System. The BI-RADS classification standard is widely used in various imaging diagnostic examinations of the breast, such as X-ray mammography, B-ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, etc. It is an assessment and analysis method for evaluating the degree of benign and malignant changes in breast lesions. The BI-RADS classification system divides breast lesions into grades 0 to 6. Generally speaking, the higher the grade, the greater the possibility of malignancy. After understanding this, you will roughly understand the severity of your breast disease. The actual meaning of each level is described below.

BI-RADS level 0: means that the assessment is incomplete. It is necessary to recall the patients and conduct other relevant imaging tests, or to compare the results with those of previous tests for further evaluation.

The following is the final classification after thorough evaluation:

BI-RADS level 1: negative result, no abnormal changes, that is, normal breast.

BI-RADS grade 2: good lesions, malignant changes can be basically eliminated. Just have regular follow-up visits.
