Reasons for first pregnancy arrest

Reasons for first pregnancy arrest

For women, only when they have been pregnant and become mothers are they complete. Pregnancy is a happy event for both women and their families. I wonder if any of my female friends have ever experienced fetal arrest in their first pregnancy. How much do you know about this? You want to know what the first fetal arrest is, what causes it, and what consequences it will have. So, let me tell you some knowledge about fetal arrest.

Embryonic arrest refers to the cessation of embryo development due to some reason in early pregnancy. Ultrasound examination may show an irregular fetal bud or fetal shape in the gestational sac, no fetal heartbeat, or a withered gestational sac. "Fetal arrest" is different from miscarriage in the second and third trimesters. It means that the development of the embryo stops before it is formed. If embryonic arrest occurs, all pregnancy reactions of the pregnant mother will gradually disappear. First of all, there will be no more early pregnancy reactions such as nausea and vomiting, and the feeling of breast swelling will also be reduced. Then there will be vaginal bleeding, usually dark red bloody leucorrhea. Finally, there may be lower abdominal pain and expulsion of the embryo. The above symptoms vary from person to person. Some people may not even show any signs, but may directly experience abdominal pain and then miscarriage, or the embryo may stop developing without any symptoms and be discovered through routine B-ultrasound examination.

Causes of embryonic arrest

1. Endocrine disorders: Embryo implantation and continued development depend on the support of a complex endocrine system. Any abnormality in any link can lead to fetal growth retardation.

2. Immune factors: Because the fetus is a combination of the parents' genetic material, it is impossible for it to be exactly the same as the mother. The immune response can cause the mother to reject the fetus, such as blood type incompatibility.

3. Uterine abnormality: Fetal growth retardation caused by uterine defects accounts for about 10% to 15%. The most common ones are: congenital uterine malformations, uterine tumors, intrauterine adhesions, cervical abnormalities, and abnormal development of the uterine arteries.

4. Chromosomal abnormalities: In fetal growth retardation, about 50% to 60% of the pregnancies have chromosomal abnormalities, including numerical and structural abnormalities. Most of them suffer miscarriage within 13 weeks of pregnancy. Only a very small number can carry to birth, but all of them are accompanied by severe developmental malformations or congenital diseases.

5. Systemic infectious diseases: Severe TORCH infection in early pregnancy can cause fetal growth retardation. TORCH includes Toxoplasma gondii, rubella virus, cytomegalovirus, herpes virus and other microorganisms.

There are also adverse factors in the environment; severe malnutrition such as serious lack of protein and certain nutrients, vitamins and trace elements; bad habits: excessive smoking, alcoholism, excessive coffee drinking

Through the above introduction, I believe everyone has a certain understanding of the reasons for the first fetal arrest. Many reasons may cause fetal arrest. Therefore, we would like to remind all pregnant friends and their families that they must pay attention to the physical health of their wives or family members during pregnancy, go to the hospital for routine prenatal check-ups on time, and be responsible for the pregnant women and children.
