Treatment of gonococcal vaginitis in women

Treatment of gonococcal vaginitis in women

Female gonococcal vaginitis is a disease that gives many of us a headache. Many female friends think that this disease involves their personal private parts and are unwilling to accept external treatment. This idea is wrong. We need to take effective methods to treat it in time. Let us learn about the treatment methods of female gonococcal vaginitis. I hope everyone can have some understanding.

1. Estrogen therapy

Topical estrogen preparations have a direct therapeutic effect. You can choose estriol ointment (trade name: Ovestin), which has only local effects, and take 0.5g of it vaginally every night (containing 0.5mg of estriol); take 1 tablet of promestriol (Genbaofen) vaginally every night or take 1 tablet of chloroquine/promestriol (Kebaojing) vaginally every night. When combined with estrogen (Bemarle) ointment and diethylstilbestrol ointment is used topically, it has both local and systemic effects, with 0.25 to 0.5 mg vaginally administered every night. In addition to treating senile vaginitis, oral estrogen can also help relieve menopausal symptoms and is beneficial to the cardiovascular and skeletal systems of elderly women. However, when using estrogen, contraindications to estrogen should be excluded first, such as breast cancer, endometrial cancer, etc. Oral estrogen preparation nialestradiol 1-2 mg, once every 2 weeks, can be taken for a long time. Or use natural estrogen, conjugated estrogens (Premarin), estradiol valerate (Progynova), or tibolone (Livial).

2. Topical Antimicrobial Drugs

General topical medications include metronidazole 200 mg or ofloxacin 100 mg, administered intravaginally once a night. One course of treatment is 7 to 10 days. Various suppositories can also be inserted into the vagina, such as compound clindamycin (chloramphenicol), econazole/curcuma oil/borneol (Baofukang), and Baojunqing, etc. You can also make your own compound chloramphenicol ointment (method: chloramphenicol 32g + estradiol benzoate 320,000 U or diethylstilbestrol 32mg + cod liver oil 240ml + vaseline 120g). Apply the ointment on a cotton ball with a thread and place it in the vagina for 8 to 12 hours, then pull the thread out by yourself. Once every other day, 3 to 4 times in total.

3. Wash the vagina

When there is a lot of secretions due to vaginal inflammation, you may consider using vaginal wipes to remove excess secretions before applying the medicine. When the above effective drugs are not available, in order to increase the acidity of the vagina, use 1% lactic acid or 0.1% acetic acid solution to flush the vagina, or 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution for a sitz bath, once a day; those who do not have medical conditions can add 60 ml of vinegar to warm boiled water for a sitz bath. However, routine vaginal douching is not recommended when the above effective drugs are available.

The above content introduces us to the treatment methods of female gonococcal vaginitis. We should have a clearer understanding of this content. At the same time, we need to pay more attention to this aspect. We should pay attention to our personal hygiene and develop good living habits to more effectively avoid the occurrence of this disease.
