What should pregnant women do if they see blood in late pregnancy?

Some pregnant women experience spotting in the late period. Once a problem occurs during pregnancy, pregnant women need to take appropriate measures to treat it in time, so as to ensure the safety of pregnant women and fetuses, avoid problems caused by physical problems during pregnancy, and avoid dangers caused by physical problems in late pregnancy. What should pregnant women do if they see spotting in the late period?

There are two types of spotting in late pregnancy:

1. Premonitions of childbirth

"Bleeding during pregnancy" is a reliable sign that labor is about to begin, so when the due date arrives and the pregnant woman has irregular uterine contractions, she should check her shorts for bloody discharge. Generally speaking, labor pains will begin within 24 hours after the onset of bleeding, and the delivery stage will begin. But the reality is that many people give birth a few days or even a week after spotting. There are great individual differences, so the key is to observe its shape, color, quantity, etc. after seeing the red and then make a judgment.

Seeing blood is a precursor to childbirth. If seeing blood is accompanied by regular uterine contractions, then the mother is not far away from becoming a mother. Generally, labor should occur within 12-48 hours. Pregnant women should go to the hospital for observation in time. However, if there is no obvious uterine contraction at the same time as seeing blood, it is not a sign of impending labor.

If the blood that flows out is bright red and exceeds the menstrual volume, it is abnormal and should be distinguished from diseases such as placental abruption and placenta previa.

2. Blood vessel rupture and bleeding

Certain conditions may also cause vaginal bleeding. Painless, recurrent bleeding in late pregnancy or during labor is the main symptom of placenta previa. Bleeding is caused by the gradual stretching of the first segment of the uterus in late pregnancy or after delivery, the disappearance of the cervical canal, and the expansion of the cervical opening, while the placenta attached to the lower segment of the uterus or the cervical opening cannot stretch accordingly, causing the anterior part of the placenta to detach from its attachment point, causing blood vessels to rupture and cause bleeding. This situation is not a sign of delivery and should be carefully identified. But generally speaking, if the prenatal check-up is normal, there are no abnormal conditions, the due date arrives, and there have been irregular uterine contractions, then if bloody mucus is found in the vagina, these are all reliable signs of impending delivery.

If the amount of vaginal bleeding is heavy and exceeds the amount of menstruation, it should not be considered as a sign of delivery. Instead, you should consider whether there are bleeding diseases in late pregnancy, such as placenta previa, placental abruption, etc.

If a pregnant woman experiences spotting in the late stages of pregnancy, she needs to consult a doctor for examination in a timely manner. She should pay attention to ensuring the physical health and safety of the pregnant woman, as well as the safety of the fetus to avoid accidental miscarriage. She should also pay attention to ensuring the safety of both the fetus and the pregnant woman at the same time so that the delivery can be smooth.
