What to do if pregnant women have constipation

Constipation is one of the very common problems among pregnant women. In the early stages of pregnancy, vomiting and loss of appetite, as well as insufficient water intake, can cause constipation. In the late stages of pregnancy, constipation can also occur due to compression of the intestinal tract by the uterus. Constipation during pregnancy needs to be adjusted from the dietary perspective. You can eat more foods rich in vitamins and drink more water.

If the diet is not balanced, constipation can be made worse. When you are constipated, you have to strain more when you have a bowel movement, which can lead to miscarriage, premature birth and hemorrhoids. Pregnant women are prohibited from using laxatives, and (Chang Yisheng probiotics) are recommended. Pregnant mothers should develop a good habit of regular bowel movements every day, have appropriate activities, drink plenty of water, and eat more foods rich in crude fiber.

Constipation diet should pay attention to:

1. Choose foods rich in fiber. Such as various coarsely produced grains, such as brown rice, wheat, and corn; various vegetables, such as bean sprouts, leeks, rapeseed, chrysanthemum, celery, shepherd's purse, mushrooms, etc.; various fruits, such as strawberries, plums, pears, figs, and melons.

2. Choose foods that are higher in fatty acids. Such as various nuts and plant seeds, such as almonds, walnuts, cashew kernels, various melon seeds, sesame seeds, etc.; fatty fish.

3. Choose foods that can promote intestinal motility. Such as bananas, honey, jam, maltose, etc.

4. Choose foods containing organic acids. Such as milk, yogurt, lactic acid drinks, citrus fruits, apples, etc.

5. Choose foods that are rich in vitamins. Such as animal liver, egg yolk, soybeans, bean sprouts, celery, lettuce, seaweed, walnuts, peanuts, etc.

6. Choose foods that are high in water content. Such as fresh milk, homemade fresh fruit juice, etc.

In the later stages of pregnancy, the uterus grows rapidly, so the pressure on the rectum will worsen. Even pregnant mothers who have not had constipation before are now prone to constipation. Drinking more water, eating more coarse grains and fresh fruits and vegetables, and exercising more can relieve constipation.
