What is the cause of vulvar ulcers?

Vulvar ulcers are inflammation, ulceration and damage of the skin and mucous membranes of the vulva. The disease mostly occurs on the inner side of the labia and labia majora, followed by the vestibular mucosa and the area around the vulva. The current medical history is subacute and chronic. The causes of the disease are different, and the treatment methods are also different.

Causes

1. The private parts are adjacent to the urethra and anus, and are often polluted by secretions, menstruation, urine, and excrement. Infants and menopausal women have low estrogen levels, and the skin and mucous membranes of the private parts are sensitive.

2. Pregnant women have frequent sexual activities;

3. Wearing tight-fitting chemical fiber underwear and sanitary napkins that make the parts less transparent can lead to bacterial infection and cause lesions. The pathogens that cause vulvar ulcers include germs, bacteria, and viral infections. Behcet's syndrome can cause ulcers in the private parts, mouth, and around the eyes.

Clinical symptoms

1. The skin and mucous membranes are ulcerated and damaged, with surrounding hematoma and edema, and the bottom of the ulcer may be grayish white with exudate.

2. Some parts may feel itchy, painful, or burning.

3. The inguinal lymph nodes may swell.

4. There may be systemic symptoms such as fever, drowsiness, or symptoms of other parts of the body.

5. Vulvar ulcers are often associated with sexually transmitted diseases. Recurring illnesses should alert you to diabetes.

Inspection

1. Acid-fast staining and shaping of the samples.

2. Serological examination.

3. Histopathological and physiological examination.

Diagnosis of nonspecific vulvitis

No specific pathogen was found. Chronic cases are accompanied by thickening, roughness, cracking, and lichenification of the skin of the private parts.

Candidiasis

Okara-like leucorrhea may be seen, and yeast fungi and spores may be looked for in female secretions.

syphilis

Along with systemic skin, mucous membranes and other organ lesions, specific blood cell tests can be used for diagnosis.

Genital herpes

Erosions or ulcers occur after papules and blisters, accompanied by systemic symptoms such as pain and fever, and the disease may recur. The pathogen is herpes simplex virus infection. Laboratory tests revealed a viral infection diagnosis.

Private tuberculosis

It is usually accompanied by tuberculosis lesions in other locations, and there is no obvious swelling or other inflammatory changes around the ulcer. Tuberculin test and partial puncture biopsy can be used for diagnosis.
