What is adenomyosis?

Many people may not have heard of adenomyosis. What kind of disease is it? What harm will it bring to us women? What other symptoms will appear? How can we prevent and treat it? We will answer these questions one by one below.

1. Adenomyosis is a diffuse or localized lesion formed by the invasion of endometrial glands and stroma into the myometrium. Like endometriosis, it is a common and difficult gynecological disease.

2. Adenomyosis mostly occurs in multiparous women around 30 to 50 years old, but it can also be seen in young women who have not given birth. This may be related to the increase in various intrauterine operations. About 15% of patients have endometriosis and about 50% have uterine fibroids. The disease can be treated with drug intervention or surgical treatment, but it is difficult to cure it. Only after menopause can the patient's adenomyosis gradually improve on its own.

3. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this disease is caused by qi stagnation, cold stagnation, heat burning, qi deficiency, and kidney deficiency, which lead to blood stasis blocking the Chong, Ren, and uterus. Dysmenorrhea occurs when menstruation is not smooth. The main pathogenesis is blood stasis blocking Chong, Ren and Baogong.

4. In the past, adenomyosis mostly occurred in multiparous women over 40 years old, but in recent years it has shown a trend of gradually becoming younger, which may be related to the increase in intrauterine surgeries such as cesarean sections and artificial abortions.

5. Symptoms: Menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, and 35% of patients have no obvious symptoms.

6. Examination: imaging examination, serum CA125 examination. In terms of treatment, medication, surgery, and interventional therapy can be used. The chance of recurrence of adenomyosis is relatively high, but it can be cured by hysterectomy and postmenopausal disease.

Adenomyosis is not a terminal illness. We should try to avoid artificial abortions and curettage as much as possible. If you have gynecological diseases, please seek medical attention as soon as possible and avoid excessive uterine operations. These can be well prevented. We should pay more attention to our diet and emotions, avoid eating irritating and cold foods, and keep warm. Only in this way can we better protect our own bodies.
