What causes vaginal itching in women?

Vaginal itching is a very common physical disease in women. Generally, there will be a certain itching in the labia, clitoris, perineum, and anus. The itching is often more severe at night and during menstruation, which makes many people feel painful and unbearable. Therefore, it is recommended that everyone should seek treatment. Before treatment, it is more important to understand the cause.

1. Causes

It is mostly caused by lesions of the sacrum itself and the spinal canal.

2. Pathogenesis

In addition to direct compression of the lower part of the sacral plexus by pelvic tumors, inflammation, pregnancy, etc., it is mostly related to lesions in the sacrum itself and the spinal canal, the latter of which often occur in the conus medullaris and cauda equina of the spinal cord.

The main causes are: Trichomonas, fungal infection, wearing underwear made of chemical fiber fabrics, using rubber or plastic menstrual belts, obesity, tight underwear, frequent use of alkaline soaps or neglect of vulva hygiene. Vulvar leukoplakia, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, burns, diabetes, anemia, etc. can also cause it.

(1) For vulvar pain and itching caused by Trichomonas, take metronidazole orally under the guidance of a physician, 0.2 g each time, 3 times a day, 7 times as a course of treatment, and at the same time insert Divijing tablets or metronidazole tablets into the vagina, 1 tablet each night, 10 days as a course of treatment. The effect will be better if combined with vaginal douching. Married persons must examine their male spouse and receive treatment at the same time.

(2) For vulvar pain and itching caused by fungi, flush the vagina with 2% to 4% soda water under the guidance of a doctor once a night, and insert a tablet of Kemeinuan into the vagina at the same time. Ten times is a course of treatment. You can also apply gentian violet or ice boron paste intravaginally.

(3) Eliminate human causes, pay attention to the cleanliness of the vulva, wear cotton underwear that is not too tight, avoid using alkaline soaps, and minimize mechanical stimulation to the vulva.

(4) For vulvar pain and itching that cannot be diagnosed at the moment, 3% boric acid or 1% to 2% raclonidine solution can be used for wet compresses, 40% zinc oxide oil, calamine lotion and 2% diphenhydramine ointment can be used locally. If necessary, chlorpheniramine can be taken orally, but hormones, iodine, alcohol and the like should not be used.

(5) Avoid mental stress and do not cover yourself too thickly when sleeping, which can reduce the pain and itching.

(6) Avoid smoking, drinking, coffee, and eating spicy foods.

1. Etiology treatment: depends on the cause.

2. Non-surgical treatment: mainly block therapy, physical therapy, acupuncture and symptomatic treatment.

3. Surgical treatment: For those with obvious compression of the pudendal nerve trunk, release surgery can be performed and efforts should be made to remove the compressive object. For those with severe itching in the perineum, the pudendal nerve on one side can be cut off (this should be used with caution for male patients and is generally not recommended).
