What is the cause of gynecological vaginal itching?

Many female friends will experience vulvar itching, especially at the end of the menstrual period. Due to the long-term moisture of the vulva and the stimulation of menstrual blood, vaginal bacteria breed and some inflammation occurs, causing itching. Generally, vulvar itching in women is caused by gynecological diseases. The main causes of gynecological diseases are usually the following.

1. External stimulation: such as not paying attention to the hygiene of the vulva, stimulation from vaginal secretions, vulvar secretions, sweat, moisture, immersion, chemical fiber underwear, unqualified menstrual belts, rough toilet paper, allergies caused by vulvar and vaginal medication, and frequent washing of the vulva with soap can all lead to vulvar itching.

2. Caused by infectious diseases: such as candidal vaginitis, Trichomonas vaginitis, infection with pubic lice, scabies, pinworms, etc. In addition to vulvar itching, candidal vaginitis will also cause tofu-like leucorrhea with an odor. In case of Trichomonas vaginitis, in addition to vulvar itching, there will be foamy leucorrhea with a special odor.

3. Skin diseases of the vulva: The skin lesions of tinea cruris often extend to the vulva, causing severe local itching. The local itching caused by vulvar eczema and neurodermatitis is more severe. The former is manifested as papules and blisters with unclear local skin boundaries and erosion exudate, while the latter often causes thickening of the skin with lichenification due to scratching. In addition to causing local itching, leukoplakia of the vulva is often accompanied by vulvar malnutrition and skin atrophy.

4. Systemic diseases: Systemic diseases mainly include diabetes, anemia, leukemia, polycythemia, skin diseases, hepatobiliary diseases (such as jaundice), kidney diseases, lymphoma, etc. In addition to general itching, vulvar itching is often accompanied.

5. Viral infection: such as genital warts, which cause vulvar itching and foul-smelling leucorrhea. Molluscum contagiosum can also cause vulvar itching, and round papules with a central umbilical depression can be seen on the vulva. Genital herpes also causes vulvar itching, and bright blisters the size of rice grains may be found at the urethral opening.

Therefore, once you find itchy vulva, you must check it in time and take effective treatment as soon as possible. In normal times, you should also pay attention to the cleanliness of the vulva. You can use vulva cleanser to clean the vulva every other day, or use clean water to clean the private parts before going to bed every day. Avoid unclean sexual intercourse and change underwear frequently.
