What causes vaginal bleeding due to cervical polyps?

Female friends, please know that the reproductive system in the body is also an organ with a high incidence of diseases. In recent years, some reproductive diseases have been plaguing mankind, such as Anita Mui, Yao Beina, and many more. Therefore, reproductive health cannot be neglected. In the female reproductive system, the cervix has always been a place where many diseases reside, and they are very hidden and difficult to detect. In particular, a disease called cervical polyps is a hidden killer. Next, let’s get to know it.

Cervical polyps are benign tumors. Generally speaking, the polyps are not too big, and most patients have polyps within one centimeter.

Chronic cervical inflammation usually leads to the formation of cervical polyps, because the long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation on the cervical mucosa causes the mucosa to continue to proliferate, slowly accumulating and forming a more protruding part. Let’s take a closer look at what cervical polyps are.

Cervical polyps are attached to the cervical opening or the cervical canal. They are formed by local hyperplasia of the cervical mucosa under the stimulation of inflammation, and protrusion out of the external cervical opening, accompanied by infiltration of inflammatory cells. They can be single or multiple, small in size, with a diameter of less than 1 cm, and look like a tongue or the size of a soybean. The small ones are like rice grains, bright red in color, soft and brittle in texture, easy to bleed, with a slender pedicle, which can lead to increased leucorrhea.

Another type of cervical polyp occurs in the cervical vaginal part, with a surface covered by stratified squamous epithelium and a stroma containing fibrous connective tissue. This type of polyp is superficial, protrudes to the surface, has a wide base, is light red in color, and has a tough texture.

When cervical polyps are small, there are no subjective symptoms or only mild symptoms, which manifest as yellow leucorrhea, most of which have an odor, or leucorrhea with blood. Larger polyps may show symptoms of bloody leucorrhea or contact bleeding, especially after sexual intercourse or straining during bowel movements, a small amount of bleeding may occur, and it may also manifest as postmenopausal vaginal bleeding. These symptoms are very similar to those of cervical cancer. Therefore, once the above symptoms appear, diagnosis and treatment should be carried out as soon as possible.

Gynecological experts remind middle-aged female friends that cervical polyps often occur in middle-aged people and they must not be careless. Female friends, please carefully master the above knowledge, pay attention to your physical health, conduct regular gynecological examinations, and eliminate potential diseases in the bud. Never allow serious consequences to occur, otherwise it will cause huge losses to the family.
