Why is the menstrual flow so heavy?

Menstruation is a woman’s best friend and comes to visit every month. The amount of menstruation varies for women with different physiques, but it is within a specific range. If the amount of menstruation suddenly increases, you need to be alert. Because this is most likely caused by some gynecological diseases. Moreover, long-term heavy menstruation can easily make women look pale and bloodless.

If a woman's menstrual period suddenly increases or her menstrual cycle is irregular, she needs to be checked for organic diseases such as gynecological tumors. The most common disease of this type is inflammation of the reproductive organs. These patients have symptoms such as heavy vaginal bleeding accompanied by lower abdominal or lower back pain, increased vaginal discharge, abnormal color or odor, fever, and frequent and painful urination.

If a woman's menstrual cycle is normal but the menstrual flow is excessive or significantly more than before, the main causes are blood heat, qi deficiency, and blood stasis:

Blood heat: Women of this type have a yang constitution and usually like to eat spicy and fried foods. Some are usually depressed, which causes liver depression and fire; some think too much, which causes insufficient heart yin and hyperactivity of heart fire; some feel the heat evil from the outside world, which forces blood to flow, thus causing excessive menstruation.

Qi deficiency: Women of this type are usually weak, or their spleen is damaged after a long illness. Some are usually too tired, and eat too much cold food, which eventually damages the spleen, weakens the middle qi, and the qi cannot hold blood, resulting in excessive menstrual flow.

Blood stasis: Women with a history of miscarriage or artificial abortion are more likely to have blood stasis in their bodies. Some women are depressed for a long time, which leads to blood stasis in the body. If the blood stasis is not removed, new blood cannot flow normally in the meridians, resulting in excessive menstruation.

Regardless of the cause of the heavy menstrual flow, the editor still recommends that patients undergo an ultrasound examination first, and then receive targeted treatment after the cause is determined. Women will suffer from lack of blood during menstruation. If the menstrual flow is heavy, it is easy for women to suffer from anemia. Therefore, once you find that your menstruation is irregular, you must seek treatment.
