What should I do if I have pain on the left side of my lower abdomen during ovulation?

Women with mature bodies generally ovulate regularly, which is the basis for conceiving life. This period is called the ovulation period. Some women do not feel anything during ovulation, but some people often have abdominal pain during ovulation. If you have abdominal pain during ovulation, what is the cause? Does this situation require treatment?

Under normal circumstances, ovulation occurs between two menstrual periods. Ovulation occurs as the follicle develops and matures. The follicle gradually migrates to the surface of the ovary and protrudes outward. When the follicle approaches the surface of the ovary, the surface cells become thinner and finally rupture, resulting in ovulation. The discharge of the egg cell is not an expulsion process, but the egg cell is discharged only after most of the follicular fluid has flowed out.

The cause of the rupture of mature follicles is still unclear. It is currently believed that there are some protein-dissolving enzymes, amylases, collagen-dissolving enzymes, etc. in the follicles. These enzymes can dissolve the follicle wall while maintaining the pressure in the follicular cavity unchanged. Some scholars also believe that under the action of gonadotropins, especially luteinizing hormone, mature follicles can secrete prostaglandins, which can cause the smooth muscle fibers in the interstitium surrounding the mature follicles to contract, causing the follicle to rupture. The contraction of smooth muscle fibers will cause you to feel stomach pain, and after the egg is released, it will also cause peristalsis of the fallopian tube. Ovulation is a normal physiological phenomenon. Due to individual differences, some people can feel it, some do not feel any discomfort, and some may feel lower abdominal pain. No treatment is required and the pain can be relieved on its own. However, in a small number of people, the pores in the ovulatory follicles are larger during ovulation, damaging small blood vessels, causing ovarian rupture and intra-abdominal bleeding, leading to gynecological emergencies. In this case, they need to go to the hospital for treatment in time.

Individual differences result in different feelings for everyone. Some people may not feel abdominal pain during ovulation. Even if you feel abdominal pain during ovulation, most of the time it is a normal physiological phenomenon and does not require treatment or processing. However, if you experience bleeding symptoms during ovulation and the amount of bleeding is heavy, you should see a doctor immediately.
