Why does my vagina itch?

Vaginal itching has many negative effects on women's work and life. The structural characteristics and physiological properties of the vagina are sufficient to resist the invasion of external microorganisms. If any of its characteristics is damaged, pathogens may take advantage of the opportunity to enter and cause vaginal inflammation. The editor has summarized some knowledge about vaginal discomfort to share with everyone.

Common causes of vaginal itching include:

1. Non-specific vaginitis: There is a feeling of heaviness and burning in the vulva and vagina, a large amount of vaginal epithelium falls off, the vaginal mucosa is congested, and there is obvious tenderness. In severe cases, general fatigue and lower abdominal discomfort may occur, and the amount of leucorrhea may be large and purulent or serous. The outflow of leucorrhea may irritate the urethra, causing frequent urination and painful urination.

2. Candidal vaginitis: The prominent symptoms of this disease are increased leucorrhea and severe itching of the vulva. When the symptoms are severe, the patient may become restless and suffer from abnormal pain. There may also be frequent urination, painful urination, and pain during intercourse. The leucorrhea is white and thick, resembling dregs of soybean dregs, the vaginal mucosa is highly edematous, the vulva is burning, and there is white flaky film adhering to it, which is easy to peel off. Underneath is an eroded base of the damaged mucosa or a shallow ulcer. In severe cases, ecchymosis may remain, which is a typical symptom of this disease. Another type of patient has a large amount of watery or purulent leucorrhea without white flakes, moderate redness and edema of the vaginal mucosa, no severe itching or burning sensation, only a feeling of moisture in the vulva.

3. Trichomonas vaginitis: Leucorrhea increases and is yellow-white, occasionally with yellow-green pus, often foamy and fishy. When the disease is severe, it will be mixed with blood. It is followed by low back pain, frequent urination, painful urination, vulvar itching, and dull pain in the lower abdomen. The vaginal mucosa is red and swollen, with scattered bleeding spots or strawberry-shaped protrusions, which occasionally cause pain during intercourse.

In this regard, the editor recommends the following treatment methods. If the vaginitis is bacterial, it is recommended to use physical therapy supplemented with drug treatment, follow the doctor's instructions, to cure the inflammation. For the treatment of this type of disease, it is recommended that men and women can be treated at the same time and avoid having sex during the treatment period to avoid affecting the treatment effect, causing repeated inflammation and leading to unnecessary harm.
