What should I do if my period is delayed?

During a woman's menstrual period, it is sometimes early and sometimes delayed. Too much or too little menstrual flow, or other problems with color and smell are all problems of irregular menstruation. Many people do not understand the reason. The symptoms do not seem to be very serious, and there are no obvious symptoms at ordinary times. Many people do not care much. So what should you do if your period is delayed?

1. Pregnancy.

You can test your urine with a pregnancy test paper or stick 7 days after your period is delayed. If the result is positive, you are likely to be pregnant, and vice versa. But if you are pregnant, there will be other symptoms, such as nausea, breast pain, etc. Of course, the last resort is to go to the hospital for an ultrasound examination.

2. The amplitude of the drug effect.

Long-term use of contraceptives may lead to endocrine disorders and delayed menstruation. Doctors also discovered, based on patient feedback, that a new generation of gastrokinetic drugs may also cause this condition. Since gastrokinetic drugs do not easily pass through the blood-brain barrier, they are believed to have no inhibitory effect on central dopamine receptors. Central dopamine receptors are inhibited, resulting in a decrease in the amount of hypothalamic release factors entering the anterior pituitary. As a result, the anterior pituitary secretes less gonadotropin and corticotropin, leading to amenorrhea and delayed ovulation.

3. Caused by surgery.

For example, intrauterine surgery may cause cervical adhesions, which may lead to menstrual blood stasis and delay menstruation.

4. Others.

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, the main reasons for dark menstrual blood are insufficient body vital energy, low disease resistance, kidney deficiency, invasion of the six evils, excessive emotions, improper diet, malnutrition, excessive sex, excessive childbirth, being too fat or too thin, and injuries from falls.

Psychological factors such as mental tension, stress, environmental changes, and some diseases that affect the endocrine system can all cause delayed menstruation.

For female friends who experience the above situation, they must pay attention to light and nutritious diet in their daily life, and pay attention to supplementing the iron and vitamin C needed by the body. Vitamin C has a very good effect in promoting body functions. Eat more high-protein foods such as beans and fish, and eat some fresh fruits appropriately.
