Treatment of unilateral polycystic ovary

Treatment of unilateral polycystic ovary

The source of a woman's charm is her uterus and ovaries. If the health of these two is threatened, it will lead to a series of gynecological problems. At the same time, if a woman cannot solve the problem with any skin care products, she needs to pay attention to whether there is something wrong with her uterus and ovaries. Let's take a look at the treatment of unilateral polycystic ovary.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a syndrome of endocrine disorders characterized by infrequent ovulation or anovulation, hyperandrogenism or insulin resistance, and polycystic ovaries. Symptoms include oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea, chronic anovulation, infertility, hirsutism and acne. Due to continued anovulation, in severe cases, the endometrium may overproliferate, increasing the risk of endometrial cancer. The choice of treatment options is very complex and varies according to different symptom improvement and fertility requirements. Requires long-term attention.

Bilateral ovarian wedge resection

It is suitable for patients with elevated blood testosterone, enlarged bilateral ovaries, and normal DHEA and PRL (indicating that the main cause of the disease is in the ovaries). Partial ovarian removal to eliminate excess androgen production in the ovaries can correct the disorder of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis. However, the site of removal and the amount of tissue removed are related to the efficacy, and the effectiveness varies. The pregnancy rate is 50% to 60%. The postoperative recurrence rate is high, and if pelvic adhesions occur, it will be detrimental to pregnancy. Laparoscopic ovarian cauterization or resection can also achieve certain results.

Prognosis

1. Diabetes

Patients with polycystic ovary syndrome have hyperinsulinemia, and patients with hyperinsulinemia are prone to diabetes and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Therefore, polycystic ovary syndrome is also a high-risk factor for diabetes and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

2. Endometrial cancer

According to statistics, 19% to 25% of endometrial cancer patients aged ≤40 years have concurrent PCOS, and some PCOS may progress to endometrial cancer.

Symptoms caused by unilateral polycystic ovary include hirsutism, obesity, infertility, etc. It causes great harm to the patient's body and mind, and in severe cases it can even be life-threatening. Therefore, it is recommended that patients receive treatment as soon as possible, strive for a speedy recovery, relax and don't be too nervous. You can learn some methods to maintain your ovaries.
