Treatment for itchy areola during pregnancy

Treatment for itchy areola during pregnancy

During pregnancy, due to the constant changes in hormone levels, mothers will experience many discomforts. Some may experience dizziness and nausea, and some pregnant women will experience itchy areolas on their breasts. This may be related to hormones. So what should we do? What is the treatment for itchy areolas in pregnant women?

1. Keep cleaning your nipples. Dip a medical cotton swab in warm water every day after taking a shower, and then gently wipe your nipples. Wipe carefully, as a lot of white stuff may be wiped out. There are two benefits of wiping your nipples in this way. One is that it can clean your nipples and make them smooth. The other is that it allows the nipples to be constantly rubbed to achieve the purpose of exercising them and prepare for future breastfeeding!

2. If you have itchy breasts and some skin on your body, you should go to the hospital to check whether you have intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy. Itchy areola during pregnancy is a disease characterized by skin itching, cholestasis and jaundice in the late pregnancy, and some reactions can be obvious in the early pregnancy. The cause of this disease is still unclear, and it may be related to endocrine immune regulation, family inheritance, exogenous factors, etc.

3. During pregnancy, the nipples need to be cleaned frequently to prepare for feeding the baby in the future. If the nipples are found to be a little dry, proper skin care is needed, such as applying some non-irritating lotion on the nipples to maintain local moisture and prevent local bacterial cracking.

4. Clean your breasts every day with cotton balls dipped in water or baby oil, and avoid using alkaline soaps. Pay attention to your diet and eat less seafood and spicy food. Eat more vegetables and fruits.

How to treat itchy areola during pregnancy? Try to take less medication during pregnancy, because medication can affect the health of the fetus. You can clean your nipples more often to reduce some irritation. If skin inflammation occurs, you must go to the hospital in time to avoid more serious conditions. I hope pregnant women can spend these ten months healthy and happy.
