What are the effects of abortion on women?

Modern society is an era of sexual openness, and people are no longer so conservative about sex. However, this has also brought about a series of social problems. The number of abortions has increased significantly, bringing risks to the entire society. Everyone knows that abortion is not a good thing and it causes great harm to women. So, what are the effects of abortion on women? We know this is very important for women, so let’s take a look at the details below.

1. Intrauterine infection

Intrauterine infection refers to an infection caused by bacteria from the vagina or cervix entering the uterus through the placenta, fetal membranes, amniotic fluid or fetus due to premature rupture of membranes before or during delivery. It can persist until after delivery or begin to show clinical symptoms after delivery, which can lead to severe infection of the mother and fetus, causing neonatal pneumonia, sepsis or meningitis. If a pregnant woman gives birth vaginally, the risk of postpartum infection is lower. If she gives birth by cesarean section, she may develop postpartum endometritis, peritonitis, thrombophlebitis, sepsis, and even death.

2. Habitual miscarriage in the future

Refers to spontaneous abortions that occur three or more times in a row. Each miscarriage usually occurs in the same month of pregnancy and the course is the same as that of a general miscarriage. The causes of early miscarriage are often luteal insufficiency, hypothyroidism, chromosomal abnormalities, etc. The most common causes of late miscarriage are relaxation of the internal cervical os, uterine deformity, uterine fibroids, etc. The internal os of the cervix becomes loose after pregnancy, usually in the second trimester, as the fetus grows, the amniotic fluid increases, the pressure in the uterine cavity increases, the fetal sac protrudes toward the internal os of the cervix, and the cervix gradually shortens and expands. Most patients have no subjective symptoms, the amniotic membrane ruptures, and the fetus can be expelled. If the bleeding time is too long, tissue remains in the uterine cavity or an illegal abortion is performed, it may cause intrauterine infection. In severe cases, the infection can extend to the pelvic cavity, abdominal cavity and even the whole body, and cause pelvic inflammatory disease, peritonitis, sepsis and septic shock, which is called abortion infection.

The harm of abortion is very serious, and it is an issue that women need to pay great attention to. Only when women understand the impact of abortion on women will they be more cautious in life and will not do something wrong for their own temporary happiness. Therefore, I hope that women can pay attention to this issue.
