Why is there more vaginal discharge these days?

Discharge is a woman's female discharge. Normal female secretions are a colorless, odorless, slightly acidic and alkaline thick substance that has the functions of moistening the vagina, removing waste, and inhibiting the growth of bacteria. It is a normal physiological phenomenon.

The causes of excessive leucorrhea can be divided into two levels: physiological and physiological.

In healthy women, more vaginal discharge is directly proportional to the increase in estrogen levels in the body. For example, if there is a lot of leucorrhea during ovulation or pregnancy, when the uterine wall grows too long, or after using estrogen drugs, similar leucorrhea may occur. It is worth noting that leucorrhea is mostly pathogenic secretions.

Excessive leucorrhea is not necessarily a sign of illness, but is mostly caused by various gynecological diseases.

External causes are closer to what Western medicine often calls infection, such as vaginal yeast infection, which is mostly transmitted through sexual intercourse. Patients often have a history of having a large amount of yellow-green or dark gray sticky and foul-smelling secretions, which are caused by many factors including pathogenic bacteria infection and cervical erosion.

1. Cervical erosion: cervical erosion caused by childbirth lacerations, estrogen changes or cervical inflammation caused by sexual intercourse may cause cervical erosion and make the leucorrhea have an odor. A very small number of women may experience cervical erosion without any reason, that is, congenital cervical erosion, which can also cause leucorrhea to have an odor.

2. Pathogen infection: The use of daily necessities that are polluted by the environment allows pathogens to enter the reproductive system through the vulva, causing infection, and the leucorrhea often has an odor. Some types of bacteria enter the female urinary system and may infect the reproductive system, causing the leucorrhea to have an odor.

3. A foreign object has entered the male reproductive organ. There are gauze, sanitary napkin plugs, menstrual suppositories, etc. in the female vagina. Some women's uterus is not suitable for placing contraceptive rings, and those who have them placed will stimulate the male reproductive organs and cause more leucorrhea.

The main cause is leucorrhea caused by the poor functioning of some internal organs of the human body. Common ones include spleen deficiency and thin stools. These patients may have poor gastrointestinal function, are prone to diarrhea, and have poor digestion and absorption, so they will involuntarily discharge a lot of transparent watery secretions from the vagina.

Most of the leucorrhea that deserves special attention is caused by the increase of pathogenic substances, which are as follows:

1. Light yellow-brown leucorrhea: It often occurs after continuous vaginal bleeding, and a large amount of pus-like and foul-smelling secretions are discharged from the vagina. Advanced cervical cancer, endometrial cancer or cervical fibroids with infection should be considered first. Those who have intermittent discharge should be aware of the possibility of cervical adenocarcinoma.

2. Tofu-like leucorrhea: slightly yellow or yellow-green, thick or sticky, with a peculiar smell. Most of them are caused by Trichomonas vaginitis, among which Candida vaginitis is more common, and there is often vulvar itching. It can also be common in chronic cervicitis, senile vaginitis, endometritis, mesometritis hematogenus or foreign bodies in the female vagina.

3. Cheese-like secretion or watery tofu-like secretion: often caused by fungal infection.

4. Bloody leucorrhea: If there is blood in the secretions, you should be alert to the possibility of malignant tumors such as cervical cancer and endometrial cancer. However, cervical cysts, cervical erosion, cervical myoma, uterine bleeding caused by imbalanced function, urethral caruncle, senile vaginitis and other common diseases can also cause bloody leucorrhea, and contraceptive rings can cause bleeding.

5. Urinary obstruction with excessive leucorrhea: In typical gonococcal infection, the secretions are increased in amount, yellowish pus, and show severe inflammatory symptoms, just like urethral secretions. The cervical secretions caused by mycoplasma are less viscous and contain more milky white serous cervical secretions.
