How long does it take to get your period after a normal birth?

Natural birth is a common method of delivery. Generally speaking, natural birth has relatively little impact on the health of the mother. Normally, menstruation will arrive normally one month after natural birth. Of course, menstruation is affected by many factors, such as improper regulation and failure to discharge lochia. Psychological factors and other factors may cause menstruation to come late, so after giving birth, you must pay attention to good conditioning and pay attention to your diet.

How long does it take to get your period after a normal birth?

When a new mother is pregnant, her menstruation may stop, but after giving birth, her menstruation will return to normal. Generally speaking, women's menstruation will not resume immediately for a period of time after giving birth, and it takes some time to gradually return to normal. Due to the differences in individual physique, physical conditions, dietary conditions, psychological factors, etc. of the mothers, the time it takes for menstruation to come after a normal birth is not exactly the same. If it is early, the mother's menstruation will return to normal when the baby is one month old. If it is late, it will not resume until the baby is one year old.

1. The menstrual period is not fixed after normal delivery:

There is no fixed timetable for the question of how long it will take for menstruation to come after a normal birth. If it is early, menstruation will come after the baby is one month old, and if it is late, it may take a year. Generally speaking, after giving birth naturally, if the mother is in good physical condition, recovers well after delivery, and breastfeeds for a short time, her menstruation will resume early; if the mother's physical condition is not good, her postpartum recovery is not ideal, and breastfeeding time is long, her menstruation will resume later.

The earliest women to resume menstruation after a normal birth are those whose baby is just one month old. However, some women who do not recover well after childbirth or have poor physical fitness may take as long as more than a year to gradually resume menstruation.

2. Ovarian function recovery after normal delivery:

Compared with most women who give birth naturally, their ovarian function has basically recovered about 5-6 weeks after the birth, and the presence of the corpus luteum can be clearly observed after ovulation.

For mothers who give birth naturally and do not breastfeed, nearly 50% of them will resume normal ovulation 40-50 days after the baby is born. In other words, more than 65% of these mothers who give birth naturally will resume normal menstruation within 6-8 weeks after the birth, and only nearly 20% of mothers who give birth naturally and do not breastfeed have not resumed normal ovulation and menstruation 2-3 months after the baby is born. However, some mothers who have given birth naturally and have been breastfeeding have resumed normal ovulation and normal menstruation about 12-14 weeks after the birth. Among them, nearly 80% of breastfeeding mothers have to wait until about 16-18 weeks after the baby is born to resume normal ovulation and menstruation.

3. Changes in menstrual volume:

There is no accurate timetable for how long it will take for menstruation to come after a normal delivery. Women who have given birth naturally do not need to worry about the delayed menstruation. Generally, there will not be any serious problems. In most cases, the first menstrual flow of a mother who gives birth naturally will be heavier than the previous menstrual flow before pregnancy. It will generally return to normal by the second month. Mothers do not need to panic too much. If they find any discomfort, they should go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.
