Is moxibustion effective for uterine fibroids?

Nowadays, many women have a new disease called uterine fibroids. Perhaps many people will be worried when they hear that it is uterine fibroids, and think that they are hopeless. In fact, this is not the case. Uterine fibroids are not cancer, and it is not a disease that cannot be cured once you have it. As long as you pay good attention to your body and choose the right treatment method, it will be fine. Moxibustion therapy is a good treatment method, you can consider it.

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors in the female reproductive organs and are also one of the most common tumors in the human body. Uterine fibroids are mainly formed by the proliferation of uterine smooth muscle cells. The cause of uterine fibroids is unknown, but they are a type of tumor that depends on estrogen for growth. Clinically, it is common in women of childbearing age, most commonly between 35 and 50 years old. Especially in a high estrogen environment, such as pregnancy, exogenous high estrogen, etc., the growth is obvious, while after menopause, the fibroids gradually shrink.

According to its symptoms, it belongs to the "menstrual disease" and "lumps" in traditional Chinese medicine. It is caused by blood stasis inside and outside the uterus due to various reasons, and the dysfunction of the liver, spleen and kidneys due to the six evils and seven emotions. Blood stasis is the main pathological link of this disease.

Treatment: Promote blood circulation, dredge meridians and relieve pain.

Main acupoints: Ashi point (two points on the left and right surface of the tumor), Qihai, Guanyuan, and uterus.

Acupoint combination: add Taichong for qi stagnation; add Xuehai and Sanyinjiao for blood stasis; add Fenglong for phlegm and dampness; add Zusanli for qi and blood deficiency.

Moxibustion method: direct moxibustion with a moxibustion device.

1. Reasons

Uterine fibroids are benign muscular tumors that develop in a certain part of the uterine muscle layer and expand into the muscle layer, peritoneum, or broad ligaments.

This disease is also known as "syndrome-mass". The age of onset is mostly between 30 years old and menopause. The tumors vary in size, from as small as a thumb to as large as a child's head.

2. Symptoms

Generally, there are no specific symptoms. If the fibroids are large, they may sometimes be mistaken for pregnancy. The abdomen of a pregnant woman is soft when pressed because the fetus is in the amniotic fluid; the abdomen of a patient with uterine fibroids is hard when pressed. Uterine fibroids larger than 3 to 4 cm can be felt between the middle pole and the qubi.

After the formation of fibroids, it usually manifests as prolonged menstruation (or excessive bleeding) and dysmenorrhea, eventually leading to anemia.

Symptoms vary depending on the site of infection. Uterine fibroids that occur under the serosa at the bottom of the uterus will have almost no symptoms unless they are very large; uterine fibroids that occur under the mucosa can cause endometritis and menstrual abnormalities; uterine fibroids that occur in the cervix can cause bladder and rectal compression symptoms.

Treatment

Treatment is the same as for amenorrhea.

For patients with excessive bleeding, surgery is recommended.

For those whose bleeding and compression symptoms are not severe, moxibustion can be performed.

For patients with fist-sized uterine fibroids, moxibustion for 5 to 6 months, even if it cannot eliminate the fibroids, can inhibit the development of the fibroids, and the patient's daily life will not be affected.

After reading the above introduction, do you think moxibustion therapy is magical? So, friends who are worried don’t hesitate or be afraid anymore. Uterine fibroids are actually not scary at all. As long as you choose the right method, health is not far away. In fact, the effects of moxibustion are not limited to this. Friends who are interested can check it out on Baidu.
