Is it normal to have blood clots in lochia?

Is it normal to have blood clots in lochia?

My sister's lochia condition was relatively stable after giving birth, but it has been a little bad recently because she found blood clots in her lochia. My sister is very worried, and my brother-in-law is also actively contacting a doctor for her to find out the situation. In fact, many mothers now experience lochia after giving birth, which is very normal. However, is it normal if the lochia contains blood clots?

Severe postpartum lochia is caused by the mother's physical weakness. In this case, treatment should be combined with astringent hemostasis and blood circulation and blood stasis removal. Generally speaking, lochia will clear up in about three weeks after delivery.

Generally, bloody lochia lasts for 3-7 days after delivery, and serous lochia lasts for 2 weeks. 34 days after delivery, the lochia is clear, but red lochia appears again. It is best to get checked to rule out gynecological inflammation or poor uterine contraction. Pay attention to the hygiene of the vulva and change your underwear frequently, eat a balanced diet and strengthen your nutrition, and eat more blood, qi and calcium-enriching foods to regulate your body well.

There will be blood clots in the lochia 15 days after delivery. At this time, the uterus has gone through a period of recovery, and the lochia secreted by the mother will also decrease accordingly. 15 days after delivery, there are blood clots in the lochia. It is because the woman caught cold during delivery, and the cold combined with the blood to form blood stasis, so new blood cannot be produced and the blood keeps bleeding. Or some placental tissue may remain in the uterine cavity, which may also cause lochia to continue. Dark purple color, bloating and pain in the lower abdomen. The tongue is dark purple or has purple spots, and the pulse is stringy, thin and astringent.

After cesarean section, lochia contains blood clots. Lochia is divided into bloody lochia, serous lochia, and white lochia. Its duration and manifestations are as follows: bloody lochia flows out in the first 3 to 4 days after delivery, containing a large amount of blood, bright red in color, sometimes with small blood clots, a small amount of fetal membrane tissue and fragments; serous lochia is discharged 5 to 10 days after delivery, with less blood volume, light red or brown in color, light brown like serous, containing a small amount of blood, but more cervical mucus, vaginal discharge and bacteria; white lochia appears 10 days after delivery, with less bleeding, viscosity, white or yellow-white in color, containing more tissue fragments, epidermal cells, white blood cells and bacteria, etc.; lochia has a bloody smell when it is normal, but no odor, and returns to normal after 5 to 6 weeks.

What should a mother eat to expel lochia? It is best to go to the hospital for a check-up, find out the cause, and then take medication for treatment. Compared with Western medicine, Chinese medicine is more inclined to Western medicine. Western medicine generally relieves symptoms, but Chinese medicine treats the root of the human body, which can not only treat diseases but also regulate the body.

I believe that everyone now has a certain understanding of postpartum lochia and blood clots. In fact, postpartum lochia and blood clots are also partially normal. We need to pay good attention to our bodies and replenish nutrition at any time. Don’t not eat some tonic foods just to maintain your figure, because the body after childbirth is very fragile. If there is a problem with the body, we must actively go to the hospital for a physical examination.
