B-ultrasound shows no polycystic ovary syndrome but high testosterone

Testosterone is a very important growth hormone in the body with a very powerful effect. For women, high testosterone levels may cause infertility. So, what should we do if testosterone is high? What is the function of testosterone? What are the causes of high testosterone? Let’s take a look with the editor below.

B-ultrasound shows that there is no polycystic ovary but testosterone is high

Polycystic ovary syndrome is a metabolic disorder involving multiple organs and systems.

This type of disease has a high heteroscedasticity, in other words, its symptoms can be varied. B-ultrasound may show polycystic ovarian changes, or there may be clinical symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome, obesity, infrequent ovulation, insulin resistance, etc. These clinical symptoms may appear at the same time or independently.

However, PCOS is currently a clear diagnosis. If high testosterone is found, adrenal disease and other organic symptoms must be ruled out before it can be diagnosed as PCOS.

What to do if testosterone is high

Medication

For patients with high testosterone, medication can be used for treatment, mainly to inhibit androgen production or anti-androgen, as well as to control weight. The drug can promote ovulation and is usually taken for about three to six months.

The medication should start from the first day of menstruation, the cycle is 21 days, and then the medication should be stopped. During the treatment period, six growth hormone tests should be carried out regularly. After the six growth hormone tests, if the condition recovers, the medication can be stopped.

Surgery

If the effect of medication is poor and the reduction of male hormones is not obvious, laparoscopic surgery should be considered. Under laparoscopic surgery, the eggs are punctured to reduce the level of male hormones, thus achieving the therapeutic purpose.

(1) Patients who are already pregnant and have no intention of getting pregnant again can undergo excision surgery.

(2) For patients who are expecting to become pregnant, polycystic ovaries can be removed by electrocautery or laser surgery under laparoscopy to reduce the male hormone content.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment

Adjust female hormones, repair ovaries and promote ovulation according to traditional Chinese medicine methods.

Testosterone exists in a small amount in women's uterus, ovaries and adrenaline. If the testosterone level is too high, it will damage women's ovaries, causing female infertility and affecting pregnancy. After treatment, pregnancy can be achieved naturally.

Under normal circumstances, the testosterone in women's blood cells is stable within a certain range. If it exceeds the standard value, it indicates the possibility of disease. During the follicular phase of a normal menstrual cycle, the average blood testosterone concentration is 0.43 ng/ml, with an upper limit of 0.68 ng/ml. If it exceeds 0.7 ng/ml (equivalent to 2.44 nmol/L), it is called hypertestosteronuria, or hyperandrogenuria.
