Causes of left adnexal pain during menstruation

Causes of left adnexal pain during menstruation

We all know that pain is usually caused by noxious stimuli, a feeling accompanied by unpleasant emotional experience. The stimuli can come from the outside and act on the body surface. Such as being hit by external objects or being exposed to extreme temperatures. This feeling is accurately located and uploaded to the brain through free nerve endings via specific nerve channels. The stimulation can also originate from within the body, but we have to endure the pain in the left appendage. Only treatment can improve the condition. Some women experience pain in the left appendage during menstruation. What is the reason?

Causes:

1. Pathogenic microorganisms: Pathogens of STDs such as gonococci, Chlamydia trachomatis, mycoplasma, viruses, etc.; non-specific ones include cocci, Escherichia coli, and anaerobic bacteria. It is often a mixed infection of multiple pathogenic microorganisms.

2. The body's resistance is weakened.

(1) After miscarriage, childbirth, and menstruation, the body’s and local resistance is low.

(2) Failure to strictly follow infection prevention and control measures during invasive examinations or treatments, such as diagnostic curettage, cervicitis treatment, hysterosalpingography, and intrauterine contraceptive device insertion in the clinic.

(3) Infection caused by inflammation of adjacent tissues and organs, mainly retrograde infection of reproductive tract inflammation such as cervicitis and endometritis; it can also be seen in purulent appendicitis and peritonitis spreading to the fallopian tubes and other pelvic reproductive organs.

(4) Sexually transmitted diseases, such as unclean sexual intercourse, promiscuous sex, and husbands repeatedly infecting their wives with sexually transmitted diseases.

Pathology: The lesions of acute salpingitis are mainly endometrial inflammation, while if they come from acute pelvic inflammatory disease, the lesions are extensive. The fallopian tubes and other tissues become congested and exudate, and purulent exudates in the cavity flow into the pelvic cavity, causing pelvic peritonitis, and in severe cases, pelvic abscess. The inflammation spreads to the ovaries, causing salpingo-oophoritis or abscess. If the fallopian tube fimbria is adhered and closed, pyosalpinx may form, which is more common in acute attacks of chronic inflammation. Pathogenic microorganisms can often be found in the exudate, pus and mucosal surfaces of acute inflammation.

Clinical manifestations of fallopian tube obstruction:

1. Symptoms of fallopian tube obstruction include acute onset of lower abdominal pain and heaviness; frequent and painful urination; bloody vaginal discharge; accompanied by chills and fever, and may also include abdominal distension, constipation or diarrhea. If the disease occurs during menstruation or after miscarriage, the amount of bleeding will increase and the menstrual period will be prolonged. Further questioning may include a history of contact with gynecological diseases or sexually transmitted diseases.

2. Signs of fallopian tube obstruction may include high body temperature, increased pulse rate, muscle tension or resistance, tenderness, and rebound pain in the lower abdomen. Gynecological examination may reveal purulent and bloody discharge from the vagina and cervix, cervical congestion, easy bleeding when touched, and pain when lifted. The adnexal area is tender and a painful mass may be palpable. Posterior fornix puncture can extract a small amount of purulent fluid.

3. Blood examination shows increased white blood cells, increased neutrophils and multinuclear leukocytes, and a fast erythrocyte sedimentation rate; posterior fornix fluid test shows a high number of white blood cells, and endocervical smear (or culture) or PCR technology testing may detect pathogenic microorganisms such as gonococci and Chlamydia trachomatis.

When we suffer from pain in the left appendages, don't be nervous and go to the hospital for treatment. It is usually related to inflammation caused by not paying attention to personal hygiene. It is recommended to pay more attention to personal hygiene, eat light and warm food, eat more fruits and vegetables, avoid overwork and overwork, and keep a happy mood.
