Is it necessary to draw blood to check endocrine function?

If there is an endocrine disorder or some abnormal conditions, it will have a greater impact on women, because it will affect the development of ovarian function, or cause some endocrine disorders, such as menstrual disorders, or other abnormal phenomena. Therefore, we need to pay attention to the examination, and random endocrine examination is the most commonly used one.

Does endocrine disease require blood tests?

Experts say that female endocrine tests include: luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), prolactin (PRL), testosterone (T), progesterone (P), estradiol, etc. Endocrine examination is actually to check whether the hormone levels are normal.

Endocrine examination requires blood drawing, which needs to be done on an empty stomach. The six hormone tests also have time limits. It is best to do an endocrine examination on the third to fifth day of menstruation, and go to the hospital for fasting blood drawing.

The role of endocrine examinations

1. Luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone are used to promote follicle development and ovulation. If the test values are too high, amenorrhea or infertility is likely to occur.

2. High prolactin levels may be caused by a pituitary tumor or hypothyroidism.

3. Too low progesterone levels indicate that a woman's pituitary and ovarian function is low, which can cause anovulation or irregular menstruation, and may also lead to threatened abortion.

4. Ovarian tumors or pregnancy may indicate that estrogen levels are too high. If they are too low, it is largely caused by other reasons such as gonadal hypoplasia or ovarian failure.

5. Testosterone is too high. It is most likely PCOS or a chromosomal abnormality.

Female friends need to avoid taking hormone drugs before undergoing endocrine examinations. If they do take them, they need to wait until the hormones are completely excreted before undergoing the examination to avoid affecting their test results. Therefore, there are some things that need to be paid attention to before the examination that you should know in advance.

The above are some tests about female endocrine system. We also need common sense to know them. I hope every female friend can pay attention to them. If any abnormalities occur, it will be very detrimental to women’s physical health. Therefore, in life, we should pay attention to our physical health and adjust our endocrine system to stay away from the influence of these diseases.
