What are the mandatory items to be checked during the first prenatal check-up?

When it comes to prenatal check-ups, everyone knows that pregnant women should go to the hospital for regular check-ups. Maybe in some remote places or villages, some people do not have a deep understanding of the importance of prenatal examinations, so they always think that as long as there are no major abnormalities, there will generally be no problems with the child. In fact, prenatal check-ups are necessary for every pregnant woman. They can ensure that the baby can be born healthy. So what items are usually checked when we go to the hospital for the first prenatal check-up?

1. Routine blood test: check red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, ABO blood type, Rh blood type;

2. Syphilis examination: Syphilis in pregnant women is usually latent and has no conscious symptoms. However, the pathogen can infect the fetus through the placenta, causing miscarriage, premature birth, and congenital syphilis.

3. Hepatitis test: If you are a hepatitis B carrier, you will infect your baby through the blood during delivery, making it a hepatitis carrier. In addition, viral hepatitis during pregnancy can cause premature birth, miscarriage or fetal death.

4. Measles antibody test: It can cause congenital heart disease, cataracts, hearing impairment, developmental abnormalities, and even stillbirth and miscarriage.

5. Urine sugar test: check whether you have diabetes.

6. Urine protein measurement: Check the mother's urinary system.

7. Ultrasound examination: can be done at eight weeks, twenty weeks and before the expected date of delivery. Can the fetal implantation site be determined at eight weeks? Is there an ectopic pregnancy? Determine the expected date of delivery; the fetal structure can be checked at 20 weeks. Before the due date, assess the size of the fetus, the placenta, and the condition of the uterus.

8. Chorionic villus sampling (8-10 weeks of pregnancy), amniocentesis (16-20 weeks of pregnancy), chromosome examination, metabolic examination and molecular genetic examination if necessary can detect the formation of hydatidiform mole.

In fact, we can clearly know from the mandatory prenatal examination items introduced in the above article that the mother's physical condition plays a vital role in the healthy and normal growth of the fetus. So whether you are preparing to become pregnant or are pregnant, you must pay attention to your physical health and ensure adequate nutrition, so that the unborn baby can come into this world healthy.
