What is the cause of a small amount of bleeding during ovulation?

Many female friends have experienced a small amount of bleeding during ovulation, and they are very worried that they may have some gynecological disease. Therefore, it is necessary for these friends to understand what causes a small amount of bleeding during ovulation. So what is the cause of a small amount of bleeding during ovulation? Next, please see the detailed introduction.

A woman's ovulation date is generally about 14 days before the next menstrual period. To be on the safe side, we call the 5 days before and 4 days after ovulation, together with the ovulation day, a total of 10 days, the ovulation period. The rest of the time except the menstrual period is called the safe period. Why do many women experience a small amount of bleeding during ovulation? Ovulation bleeding, also known as mid-menstrual bleeding, refers to a small amount of bleeding between two normal menstrual periods, which may be accompanied by varying degrees of lower abdominal pain. Clinical manifestations are as follows:

1. Uterine bleeding. During the menstrual cycle with ovulation, ovulation uterine bleeding occurs. The amount of bleeding is small, and some are only brown secretions. It usually stops on its own in 2-3 days, and the longest time is 7 days.

2. Abdominal pain. Cyclic intermenstrual pain can be mild or severe and usually lasts for several hours, but in some patients it may last for 2-3 days.

3. Infertility. It may be caused by stopping sexual life due to ovulation bleeding, thus missing the opportunity of conception. Note: Generally there are no obvious positive signs. The diagnosis can be confirmed by diagnostic curettage, basal body temperature measurement (basal body temperature is biphasic, and bleeding occurs when low and high temperatures change), and laparoscopy. If the symptoms are mild, no treatment is needed. If the bleeding is heavy or affects fertility, medication can be used for treatment.

Is ovulation bleeding normal?

Whether ovulation bleeding is normal or not depends mainly on the amount of blood discharged and other accompanying symptoms.

When examining the cervical mucus of ovulating women during the middle of their menstrual period, it was found that about 60% of them had red blood cells under a microscope, but there was no bleeding visible to the naked eye. This is not a pathological phenomenon and is normal.

Visible vaginal bleeding may last for a few hours, or 3 to 5 days, but rarely for more than 7 days. Some women bleed during ovulation, but the amount of bleeding is very small, and it stops with a few drops, or there is blood mixed in the vagina. Generally, it rarely reaches the amount of menstruation.

Bleeding may be accompanied by distension and discomfort, dull pain or obvious pain in one side of the lower abdomen, and may even involve the waist and inner thigh.

Symptoms may occur continuously every month or every other month. For some people, they occur for several months each year, while for others, they only experience this phenomenon once in their lifetime.

So in general, if ovulation bleeding lasts less than 7 days, is not continuous, and is not accompanied by pain as severe as dysmenorrhea, it is basically normal.

The above is an introduction to what causes a small amount of bleeding during ovulation. I believe that after the above introduction, everyone has a certain understanding of the relevant knowledge about a small amount of bleeding during ovulation. It should be noted that if it is only a small amount of bleeding and does not last long, it is normal and there is no need to worry too much; if the bleeding lasts for a long time and is accompanied by other uncomfortable symptoms, it is best to see a doctor.
