Why is it painful to remove or insert the ring?

Contraception is a compulsory course between normal couples. Everyone knows that there are many methods of contraception, and IUD insertion is one of the common methods. However, if you still want to have a baby after inserting the IUD, you must remove the IUD. Most female friends should understand that the pain of removing the IUD and the pain of inserting the IUD are actually quite uncomfortable and will feel painful.

It is a very effective contraceptive method used by many people. Is it more painful to insert the IUD or to remove it? This is an issue that many women are concerned about. Some people may feel discomfort when they first have the IUD inserted, but there is no pain. Before removing the IUD, you should undergo an X-ray or B-ultrasound examination. Generally, there will be no pain, but a few may feel a little pain.

The main discomforts during IUD placement are due to the following reasons: During the placement process, when the IUD passes through the cervical opening, it may cause a sour and swollen feeling due to the dilation of the cervical canal, but the actual placement process only takes a few seconds to complete, so there is no need to worry too much. Before the contraceptive ring enters the uterine cavity, the T-shaped horizontal arms are closed and collected in the sleeve. During the placement process, the diameter when passing through the cervical opening is less than 5 mm, which is smaller than most ordinary rings. Therefore, there is no need to dilate the uterus, and the operation is easier. Most women will only feel slight discomfort during placement.

Before removing the ring, you should first undergo an X-ray fluoroscopy or B-ultrasound examination. For a ring with a tail thread, you can ask the doctor to dilate the vaginal opening to see if there is any nylon thread outside the uterine opening to confirm that the ring is in the uterine cavity before removing it. Some IUDs are painful when removed because they have been in place for too long and part of the ring may be embedded in the myometrium or deformed. Because it is placed for 5 years, this phenomenon generally does not occur. Moreover, it has a tail thread, which makes it very convenient to remove. It does not require entering the uterine cavity and will not cause pain.

There is actually not much difference between the pain of removing the IUD and the pain of inserting it. Pain is definitely present, but there is no need to be afraid. As long as you use the right methods, pay more attention to your daily life, keep up to date with the relevant knowledge about contraceptive rings, and reduce the psychological burden, the pain will disappear.
