Can yogurt relieve menstrual cramps?

Women who have experienced menstrual pain know that it is very painful when it occurs during menstruation, and they may even be unable to concentrate on their studies or work. When menstrual pain occurs, the most important thing is how to immediately relieve the symptoms caused by dysmenorrhea. So, can yogurt relieve dysmenorrhea?

Yogurt or milk contains a lot of calcium, which can stabilize nerves and promote the body's ion balance. During menstruation, the uterine muscles of women are overly contracted, which can cause pain. Therefore, drinking more yogurt or milk can effectively relieve menstrual pain. Ways to relieve dysmenorrhea include:

1. Yogurt and milk

Drinking yogurt and milk in the first few days of menstruation can help relieve dysmenorrhea symptoms, because the uterine muscles contract more severely during menstruation, thus causing abdominal pain, and yogurt or milk contains a lot of calcium, which can stabilize nerves, relieve anxiety and pain.

2. Eat less food containing caffeine

The caffeine contained in coffee, tea, and chocolate can make women nervous and anxious, and may cause menstrual discomfort. The vegetable oil contained in coffee also irritates the colon and causes abdominal discomfort. Therefore, women should avoid eating foods containing caffeine a few days before menstruation or during menstruation.

3. Stay warm

Women should keep warm during their menstrual period to prevent cold. Women with a history of menstrual pain should not stay under the shade of trees or on the balcony for a long time. They should not use electric fans for too long, and the temperature in the air-conditioned room should not be set too low. To maintain body warmth during menstruation, you should drink more hot water or brown sugar ginger water. You can also place a hot compress bag or hand warmer on the abdomen for a few minutes at a time, or use moxa sticks to burn your lower abdomen.

4. Take a mineral bath

Add 1 cup of salt and 1 cup of sodium bicarbonate to the bathtub and soak in warm water for 20 minutes to help relax muscles and relieve menstrual pain. Remember to wipe your body after showering to avoid catching a cold.
