What is the cause of breast lumps?

Women always pay special attention to their breasts, and breasts are very important to us. However, some women occasionally find lumps in their breasts and are always afraid that they have cancer such as breast cancer. In fact, a lump in the breast is not necessarily a breast tumor. Let’s take a look at what is going on.

There are many types of breast lumps. The following diseases can be used for reference: Breast hyperplasia lumps: The lumps can occur in one or both breasts, single or multiple, and generally occur in the upper outer quadrant of the breast. It appears as flakes, nodules, cords, etc. of varying sizes, among which flakes are the most common. The border is not obvious, the texture is medium or slightly hard, there is no adhesion to the surrounding tissues, and there is often tenderness. Most breast lumps also change with the menstrual cycle. The lumps become larger and harder before menstruation, and shrink and soften after menstruation. This lump can be eliminated with breast health.

Breast lobular hyperplasia lumps: Most of them are bilateral and multiple, with different sizes, nodular, lumpy or granular. The texture is generally soft, but can also be hard and tough. Occasionally, there are single lumps on one side, but they are often accompanied by premenstrual breast pain, which is also painful to touch. The size and characteristics of the breast lumps may change periodically with menstruation. The age of onset is mostly young and middle-aged. This lump can be eliminated with breast health.

Breast fibroid lumps: Most of them are unilateral and single, and the lumps are mostly round or oval, with clear boundaries, large mobility, and can be pushed. The texture is generally tough and solid. There are also multiple lumps, but generally there is no breast pain, or only mild menstrual breast discomfort, no tenderness, and the size and characteristics of the breast lumps do not change with the menstrual cycle. Most patients are under 30 years old, and the most common age is 20 to 25 years old. This lump can be eliminated with breast health care when it grows to 3CM. Breast cancer lumps: The texture is generally hard, and some are as hard as stone. Most lumps are unilateral and single. The lumps may be round, oval or irregular in shape. They can grow to a large size, have poor mobility, and easily adhere to the skin and surrounding tissues. The lumps are not related to the menstrual cycle or emotional changes, can increase rapidly in a short period of time, and are more common in middle-aged and elderly women. In addition, on mammographic target X-rays of the breast, breast cancer often appears as mass shadows, small calcifications, abnormal blood vessels and burrs, which can also help with diagnosis. Atypical cells can be found in breast cancer tumors by needle aspiration. The final diagnosis is based on the results of histopathological examination. It is recommended to go to the hospital for treatment in time for this lump.

From the above introduction, we can see that a lump in the breast does not necessarily mean breast cancer. Don’t worry too much, but we also need to pay attention and not take it lightly.
